Details On Impact’s New Booking Committee, Reaction To Jim Ross’ “Soundtrack” Tweet (Exclusive)

Thursday night saw the first television taping of the latest “new era” of Impact Wrestling. Airing March 9th, the episode saw some notable returns, a big debut and Impact’s new booking committee in action.

According to well placed source, Impact’s new booking committee is comprised of Jeff Jarrett, Dutch Mantell, Scott D’Amore and Abyss with Jeremy Borash (and others) having the opportunity to pitch ideas. The group is in the process of bringing on another member, specifically someone younger to balance things out.

Prior to the taping, WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross sent out a tweet teasing a “different soundtrack” for Impact moving forward. Obviously this was a reference to the commentary team. Despite JR’s relationship with New Japan Pro Wrestling, this set off a lot of speculation that he could be joining Impact as an announcer.  We’re told Impact officials backstage at the taping were very upset with JR’s tweet, which was seen as “self serving” and “detrimental” to their brand refresh.

Several hours later, JR set the record straight and clarified that he would not be part of Impact’s new broadcast team. Unfortunately, the damage was already done. The source added, “They expected more from someone as classy as JR.”

It’s also worth noting that Impact Wrestling is currently looking to establish working relationships in the UK. The company currently works with NOAH (Japan) and Crash (Mexico), so expect to see talent from both of those promotions used in the coming months as part of the roster refresh.
