Ricochet Returning To Japan For The First Time Since 2017

Ricochet already enjoying the flexibility of being All Elite

High-flying wrestling sensation Ricochet is heading to Japan next month, set to compete at GLEAT’s EDION #1 event in Osaka on October 6, 2024. The AEW star will team up with Japanese wrestling legend CIMA in what is sure to be a highly anticipated match.

The appearance marks a significant collaboration between AEW and GLEAT, a relatively new promotion established on August 20, 2020, by LIDET Entertainment. GLEAT blends elements of martial arts and traditional strong-style pro wrestling, offering a unique platform for international talent like Ricochet.

Ricochet hyped the appearance, teasing that this might be the final opportunity to see him and CIMA team up for the last time.

Ricochet’s AEW Journey

Ricochet, one of the newest additions to the AEW roster, has wasted no time making his presence felt. The former WWE standout made his AEW debut as a surprise entrant in the Casino Gauntlet match at AEW’s All In London pay-per-view. While he did not secure the victory, his presence was felt, and he followed up by winning his first singles match on the August 28 edition of AEW Dynamite against Kyle Fletcher.

His move to AEW highlights one of the promotion’s key attractions for wrestlers—contract flexibility. AEW allows its talent to compete in other promotions, a factor that has drawn many high-profile names to its roster. Ricochet’s upcoming appearance for GLEAT underscores the appeal of AEW’s open-door policy, giving him opportunities to showcase his high-octane style across the globe.

Ricochet in Japan

Ricochet is no stranger to Japanese audiences. Long before he became a household name as a WWE Superstar, his high-flying, “human highlight reel” offense has made him a fan favorite worldwide, particularly in Japan where he previously competed in New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) against the likes of Will Ospreay, PAC and others.

As anticipation builds for the EDION #1 event, Ricochet’s partnership with CIMA, a decorated veteran of the Japanese wrestling scene, is sure to be a thrilling match-up that blends experience with Ricochet’s high-energy offense. This international appearance further solidifies Ricochet’s standing as a versatile and globally recognized performer.

Ricochet’s participation in GLEAT’s Osaka event on October 6 highlights the growing collaborations between AEW and international promotions, and a valuable ‘perk’ Tony Khan offers that others do not.
