2025 Royal Rumble Recap: Winners, Returns and Records

The WWE Royal Rumble 2025, held on February 1 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana, in front of a crowd of over 70,000 fans.  The event featured action-packed matches, surprise returns, and set the stage for WrestleMania 41.

Men’s Royal Rumble Match:

Jey Uso emerged victorious in the men’s Royal Rumble, securing his spot in the main event of WrestleMania 41. Entering at number 20, Uso showcased resilience and strategy, ultimately eliminating John Cena to claim the win. 

Women’s Royal Rumble Match:

Charlotte Flair made a triumphant return, winning the women’s Royal Rumble after a period of absence due to injury. Entering at number 27, Flair displayed her dominance by last eliminating Roxanne Perez, becoming the first two-time winner of the Women’s Royal Rumble. 

Notable Returns and Surprises:

AJ Styles: Returned to the men’s Royal Rumble at number 21 after recovering from injury, adding star power to the match. 

Alexa Bliss: Made a comeback in the women’s Royal Rumble at number 21 after a two-year hiatus, receiving a warm reception from the audience. 

Trish Stratus: The WWE Hall of Famer entered the women’s match at number 25, delivering a nostalgic moment for fans. 

Joe Hendry: The TNA World Heavyweight Champion made a surprise appearance in the men’s Rumble at number 15, marking a rare cross-promotional moment. 

Records and Highlights:

Roxanne Perez: The NXT standout delivered an impressive performance, potentially setting a new record for the longest time in the women’s Rumble before being eliminated by Charlotte Flair. 

IShowSpeed: The popular YouTuber was unexpectedly thrust into the men’s Rumble, providing a memorable and entertaining moment for the audience. 

Other Notable Matches:

Undisputed WWE Championship Ladder Match: Cody Rhodes successfully defended his title against Kevin Owens in a brutal ladder match, further solidifying his championship reign. 

WWE Tag Team Championship: #DIY (Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa) retained their titles against The Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin) in a two out of three falls match, showcasing exceptional tag team wrestling. 

With these outcomes, Jey Uso and Charlotte Flair are set to headline WrestleMania 41, scheduled for April 19 and 20, 2025, at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
