Storyline Plans For Finn Balor Before He Moved To NXT

More info on Finn Balor going to NXT

Recent WWE storyline plans for Finn Balor that were ultimately scrapped have come to light. Finn Balor is now working as heel on the NXT brand, but it turns out the company had other plans for him up until recently.

Balor asked WWE officials for two months off, which started in August with the idea being that his sabbatical would begin once he lost to Bray Wyatt at the SummerSlam pay-per-view event. Despite what was being speculated, WWE never intended for Balor to continue his feud with Wyatt.

Balor was supposed to be moved from RAW to SmackDown once he returned after taking time off, according to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

Thus, that’s the reason that he was advertised for SmackDown live events on WWE’s Australian tour that went down from October 21st to 23rd as well as WWE UK tour later this month.

When WWE NXT moved from the WWE Network to the USA Network starting in September, a noticeable trend of declining ratings for NXT started and went downhill quickly once they went head-to-head with AEW Dynamite on TNT in the same time slot.

He was moved to NXT with the idea that his star power could make more of a difference there.

Since making his return to NXT, Balor got the wrestling world talking with turning heel by attacking Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa that kicked off his next feud.
