First Matches Advertised For WWE’s Return To MSG

Additional details have surfaced about WWE's return to MSG

It was announced by WWE last week that they would return to Madison Square Garden in New York City.

WWE is slated to hold TV events for Monday Night RAW on Monday, September 9 and SmackDown Live on Tuesday, September 10. This will be back-to-back TV events at the arena, which marks the first time in ten years that WWE has aired one of their television programs from the arena.

MSG officially announced the news on Monday morning and provided some additional details. For the RAW TV event, Seth Rollins vs. Drew McIntyre is advertised to take place. Although the ad currently lists Rollins as the Universal Champion, that is not the case as it lost it to Brock Lesnar at Extreme Rules. That ad will be changed shortly.

For the SmackDown TV event, WWE Champion Kofi Kingston will defend his title against Randy Orton. These are likely dark matches. The following talents are advertised to appear:

RAW Women’s Champion Becky Lynch, Roman Reigns, United States Champion AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, Braun Strowman, Finn Balor, Rey Mysterio, Dolph Ziggler, Lacey Evans, SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley, Baron Corbin, Charlotte Flair, Alexa Bliss, Cesaro, Ricochet, Kevin Owens, Bobby Lashley, The Usos
