The Rock On Reason Hollywood Studios Didn’t Buy Into “Fighting With My Family”

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s Seven Bucks Productions has produced a feature film based on the life of the Knight family including Saraya Knight aka Paige that is titled “Fighting With My Family.”

The film was produced in conjunction with WWE Studios and Film 4. While doing a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, The Rock revealed that there were several big Hollywood studios that decided to pass on the movie because of the stigma that pro wrestling still carries.

“We wanted a studio to buy into it, and no one did,” Rock said. “We got passed on everywhere. It was a small British comedy about a crazy wrestling family that wasn’t famous.”

Danny Garcia, who oversees Seven Bucks Productions added, “Wrestling is the conduit for Paige’s journey, and that has a certain stigma.”

Paige will not be playing herself but rather will be portrayed by actress Florence Pugh. Lena Headey and Nick Frost will play Paige’s parents in the film. Vince Vaughn as Jake Roberts and Zelina Vega as AJ Lee. The Rock will also make a cameo.

The film is slated to be in theaters around the country on February 22.
