WWE was the first to announce that Mysterio had suffered an ankle injury, which led to him being pulled from his scheduled match against Andrade on Tuesday’s episode of SmackDown Live in Baltimore, MD at the Royal Farms Arena.

As of this writing, Rey is still scheduled to challenge WWE United States Champion Samoa Joe at WrestleMania 35 on Sunday, April 7, 2019, in East Rutherford, NJ at MetLife Stadium. It’s been reported that this is a legit injury and that his status at Mania is uncertain.

Last year, Mysterio signed a new 2-year deal with WWE. The agreement reportedly includes a stipulation that he can ‘give notice’ to the company at the 18-month mark. Mysterio has had a lot of success while competing under the WWE banner that includes holding the WWE’s World Heavyweight Title, Cruiserweight Title, and Tag Team Title, and Intercontinental Title.
