  2. Two wrestlers start the match, with a new participant entering every five minutes until all five are in the ring.
  3. Competitors can score points through pinfalls, submissions, or disqualifications at any time during the match.
  4. When a wrestler scores a fall, they earn one point.
  5. If a wrestler loses a fall, they must spend 90 seconds in a penalty box before re-entering the match.
  6. The superstar with the most points when the 25-minute time limit expires is declared the Iron Survivor.

Importance and Stakes

The Iron Survivor Challenge carries significant implications for the winners:

  1. The victors of both the men’s and women’s matches earn a future title shot for their respective championships.
  2. For the men, this means a chance to compete for the NXT Championship.
  3. The women’s winner receives an opportunity to challenge for the NXT Women’s Championship.

History and Impact

Since its inception, the Iron Survivor Challenge has quickly become a highlight of NXT’s annual December event, Deadline. The match has showcased the talents of rising NXT stars and has led to memorable moments and performances.

Future of the Iron Survivor Challenge

As the Iron Survivor Challenge continues to evolve, there is speculation about its potential to become a regular fixture in NXT or even “graduate” to the main roster, following the path of other successful concepts like WarGames (which of course started in the NWA/WCW and was brought to NXT).

What is a WWE NXT Underground Match?

0

WWE NXT Underground matches are a unique and intense form of professional wrestling that combines elements of traditional pro wrestling with mixed martial arts (MMA) influences. These matches take place in a more realistic setting, designed to showcase the raw athleticism and combat skills of the performers involved.

Read More – WWE Hell in a Cell: Match Rules, History, Best Matches and more

Origins and Concept

NXT Underground matches were introduced as a way to bring a new level of excitement and realism to WWE’s developmental brand, NXT.

The concept draws inspiration from the short-lived Raw Underground segments that aired in 2020, which featured shoot-style wrestling in a gritty, underground fight club atmosphere.

Rules and Format

NXT Underground matches differ from standard WWE matches in several key ways:

  1. The match takes place in a modified ring without ropes or turnbuckles.
  2. Competitors typically wear MMA-style gear rather than traditional wrestling attire.
  3. Matches can be won by knockout, submission, or referee stoppage.
  4. There are no count-outs or disqualifications.

Notable NXT Underground Matches

One of the most significant NXT Underground matches took place at NXT Battleground 2024, featuring Lola Vice against Shayna Baszler.

This match showcased the intense, hard-hitting style that NXT Underground is known for, with both competitors utilizing their extensive MMA backgrounds.

Impact on WWE Programming

NXT Underground matches have added a new dimension to WWE’s product, appealing to fans of both professional wrestling and mixed martial arts.

These matches often feature performers with legitimate combat sports backgrounds, lending an air of authenticity to the proceedings.

Training and Preparation

Competitors in NXT Underground matches often undergo specialized training to prepare for the unique demands of this format.

This may include additional striking and grappling practice, as well as conditioning work to maintain a high level of intensity throughout the match.

Future of NXT Underground

As NXT continues to evolve, it’s likely that Underground matches will remain a part of the brand’s identity.

These matches provide a platform for performers to showcase their skills in a different context, potentially leading to new storylines and character development opportunities.

Booker T Criticizes Athena’s ‘Boxed In’ ROH Role, AEW Ratings Drop

0

Athena may be the unquestionable top woman in Ring of Honor, but Booker T feels so much more could be done with the Women’s World Champion. On his Hall of Fame podcast, Booker, who trained Athena, argued that the ex-WWE Superstar should be a regular on AEW’s televised programs.

“Athena would fit right into the AEW women’s roster. She’s just as good, if not better… instead, they stick her in a box and put her in Ring of Honor.”

Though a regular in Ring of Honor, Athena rarely appears on AEW programming, with her most recent match for the brand coming back in April. That match is also Athena’s only AEW match of the past year, something that Booker would like to see change.

On the podcast, Booker also addressed AEW’s ratings, which have taken a slump in recent years. The days of Tony Khan boasting about over a million fans tuning into Dynamite are a distant memory and Booker shared what he’d be doing if he was in Khan’s shoes.

“If I saw the ratings drop that low, I’d be thinking about getting some help or shutting it down—one of the two.”

Tony Khan Hits Back At “Disingenuous” Feedback From Non-AEW Fans

Athena recently passed 700 days as ROH Women’s World Champion, more than any other champion and more days than all other champions combined. Nevertheless, Booker believes there’s a lot more that can be done with his pupil, and has been underwhelmed by Athena being ‘boxed in’ as part of Ring of Honor.

Kofi Kingston Teases What’s Next for The New Day After Split From Big E

0

The New Day’s split during the December 2, 2024, episode of WWE Raw shocked fans, and marked the end of one of wrestling’s most popular factions as it was known for years. The ten-year celebration of the group saw Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods betray Big E, claiming they wanted nothing to do with him and claimed he’d never be cleared to wrestle.

During an appearance on The Battleground Podcast, Kofi addressed the aftermath of the split while refusing to disclose the group’s future plans.

“None of those details are ones I’m willing to share with you, you know what I’m saying? Every Monday night—find out.”

Every interview since Raw that Kingston has been a part of, he’s been asked about the breakup, a fact Kingston called a “good thing.” While Kofi avoided specifics, the former WWE World Champion expressed excitement about what lies ahead for the group.

“[Our future is] littered with uncertainty—in the best way possible. I think the opportunities for us are going to start ringing in.”

While Kofi’s comments keep fans guessing, one thing is certain: The New Day is ready to make an impact, now as heels. Stay tuned to SEScoops to see if the teased opportunities do indeed ‘ring in’ for Kingston and Woods, now that they’ve left Big E behind.

TNA Wrestling’s “23” Mystery Sparks Fan Speculation on iMPACT

0

A new mystery in TNA Wrestling debuted on the promotion’s latest episode of iMPACT and has something to do with the number 23. Following a tag team match between PCO & Sami Callihan and The Good Hands (Jason Hotch & John Skyler), the lights dimmed and the number 23 was shown on screen, much to the confusion of Tom Hannifan and Matthew Rehwoldt on commentary.

Speculation quickly began on social media, with theories about what the number could mean. Some fans speculated that it could do with TNA’s taping of iMPACT on January 23, in San Antonio, TX, the same city WWE will host Saturday Night’s Main Event that same week. WWE and TNA have worked closely in 2024 with talent from NXT and TNA appearing for the other side.

Top TNA Wrestling Stars Pushing to Sign Zilla Fatu

The number 23 has a mystery to itself, with believers of this enigma arguing that the number appears with unusual frequency in life, suggesting a hidden, darker meaning. The idea of the number 23 enigma was made into a movie, fittingly titled The Number 23, which starred Jim Carrey and came out in 2007.

2024 has been a huge year for TNA since the relaunch back in January, with fans excited for what’s to come. Stay tuned to SEScoops for all the latest on TNA Wrestling and what the mystery around 23 is revealed to be.

Eric Bischoff Exerts Total Creative Control at MLW One-Shot 2024

0

Eric Bischoff was granted total creative control for the MLW One-Shot event on December 5, 2024, at the Melrose Ballroom in NYC. This event marked his first time promoting a wrestling show in New York City, a place considered “enemy territory” during the Monday Night Wars when he was with WCW.

Bischoff’s influence was seen in several aspects of the show. One notable feature was the introduction of the “83 Weeks Girls,” a dance squad reminiscent of WCW’s Nitro Girls, bringing a unique flair to the event.

A “Fan’s Choice Match” was added to the card, where fans could vote on the match stipulation for Alex Kane vs. Bobby Fish. This interactive element allowed fans to engage directly with the event’s booking decisions.

Matches and Stipulations:

Bischoff incorporated various match types, including a “Spin the Wheel, Make the Deal” for a match involving Matthew Justice and The Andersons.

Key matches included Matt Riddle vs. Donovan Dijak, Místico vs. Trevor Lee for the World Middleweight Championship, and several other high-profile bouts.

In various interviews, Bischoff has expressed his intent to have fun with the creative control, focusing on enhancing storytelling, character development, and presentation rather than overhauling MLW’s established storylines. He aimed to put a new spin on wrestling staples and engage the audience differently.

Bischoff’s role at MLW One-Shot was described as a one-off, but he has left the door open for potential future collaborations if the experience is mutually enjoyable. He emphasized enjoying the process and collaboration rather than focusing on long-term involvement.

Trish Stratus Looks Back On Iconic Raw Main Event & WWE’s Progress

0

Trish Stratus was honored to headline WWE Raw in 2004, an opportunity that the Hall of Famer had to fight for in every sense. This week marks 20 years since Stratus and Lita headlined the December 6, 2004, edition of the red brand which saw Lita capture the Women’s Title from her friend/rival.

Speaking to TV Insider, Stratus recalled only learning of the main event match when she arrived at the arena, and even then, believed it was a prank by male talent. It was only after speaking with Vince McMahon that the magnitude of their upcoming match truly sunk in.

“We knew it was a big opportunity, but at the time, we didn’t realize how big of an opportunity it was. Let alone the impact that night would have.”

20 years later, the match is still considered one of the best women’s matches in WWE TV history and came at a time when women were firmly behind the men. Just two years earlier, Stratus had faced Victoria in a hardcore match, one where many backstage didn’t want the pair to come close to delivering on the stipulation.

“We were thinking about doing a chair shot. ‘Women can not do that’… Only in the wrestling world where I have to fight to be whacked in the back with a steel chair.”

Stratus’ matches with Lita and Victoria would be a taste of things to come, as women’s wrestling in WWE has made huge steps over the past decade. While having two women headline Raw was a historic showcase in 2004, the concept is commonplace in today’s programming.

“It’s wild to me now that the main event is whoever deserves it. This isn’t just the women’s main event. It’s just two characters on the show.”

In a matter of days, WWE will take its next step in gender equality with the crowning of the first Women’s U.S. Champion at Saturday Night’s Main Event. WWE has also started a tournament on Raw to crown the first Women’s Intercontinental Champion.

“I think it’s amazing. This is exactly what we wanted back in the day. We wanted the same opportunities and exposure as the men. This is a big step.”

Stratus last competed for WWE at Payback 2023 against Becky Lynch in a steel cage, another concept practically off-limits for women during Stratus’ full-time career. With opportunities growing in WWE that Stratus wished existed decades ago, fans can’t count out some Stratusfaction being served again, possibly with gold on the line.

Other Highlights

Stratus discussed a variety of topics in her interview, including:

  • Appearing on MADtv was a “dream” for Stratus, who preferred the show growing up to Saturday Night Live.
  • Stratus is interested in appearing on Dancing With The Stars. The show has already featured Chris Jericho, Nikki Garcia, and The Miz.
  • She “imagines at some point” that fans will see her in the ring again, especially with next year being the 25th anniversary of her WWE debut.

Top TNA Wrestling Stars Pushing to Sign Zilla Fatu

0

Zilla Fatu, who is the son of late WWE star Umaga, has gained recognition in recent years due to his incredible display of strength and athleticism in the independent scene. He has been endorsed to join top pro wrestling promotions and recently TNA Wrestling star Moose has advocated that the promotion should sign the Samoan wrestler.

Zilla Fatu recently made an appearance on the Busted Open Radio and pro wrestling legend Tommy Dreamer revealed that Moose has been pushing for Zilla to be signed in TNA Wrestling. Dreamer said that people have been talking about Zilla Fatu not because pro wrestling runs in his family but due to his talent.

“I’ve seen a lot of people talk about you. Not just because of your father, but because ‘this guy has the talent, by the way, he’s Umaga’s son.’ That’s the family part of the industry, which I now understand that you are understanding that love.

Beyond the fans, we talk about a brotherhood. Your father was a brother to a lot of men and women. He was awesome. Your attitude is great and I feel, and most of us feel in the industry, you will have success.”

Tommy Dreamer to Zilla Fatu

Moose Pushing for TNA Wrestling to sign Zilla Fatu

Dreamer then spoke about Moose endorsing Fatu as the former TNA World Champion was impressed and saw potential in the 25-year-old wrestler.

“I have Moose pushing for you all the time. I’m like, ‘I know who he is. You don’t need to push for him. If there is a position or spot.’ Moose didn’t know you, but he was like, ‘This guy is really good.’ Then, when he said your name, I was like, ‘Yeah, I know who he is.’ This is how we get into the industry. It has nothing to do with nepotism, it all has to do with talent. It’s so natural for you because, your father was so gifted and talented.

Jacob (Fatu) is up there as well, but for your dad’s size and what he could do, was next level. I wrestled him at least 30 times. You have a whole bunch of people pushing for you because you’re you.”

Tommy Dreamer to Zilla Fatu

TNA Wrestling could be a great stepping stone for Zilla Fatu at this stage in his career. Especially with TNA’s working relationship with NXT, it could be an interesting entry point for him as he makes a name for himself outside of the Bloodline universe.

Zilla Fatu trained at Booker T’s Reality of Wrestling school and made his pro-wrestling debut at ROW Summer Of Champions IX in July last year. He is the reigning ROW Heavyweight Champion. He has also competed for GCW and HOG in the past.

Fatu had previously won the HOG Crown Jewel Title during the promotion’s event on July 26th. Zilla is part of the Samoan bloodline and several members of the family have made their way into WWE. Zilla could follow suit as well. A few months back, the rumor mill churned about Fatu possibly making a move to WWE when he was spotted at WWE SummerSlam PLE.

Zilla Fatu will certainly be an impactful addition whichever promotion manages to bag the signing. Recently, Zilla Fatu expressed his desire to face John Cena during the latter’s WWE farewell tour. He has also picked a side in the Bloodline Civil War.

Taz Shows Rapid Recovery After Knee Replacement Surgery

0

Wrestling icon Taz, famously known as “The Human Suplex Machine,” is making impressive strides in his recovery following total knee replacement surgery. The veteran took to social media on December 4 to update fans about his progress, highlighting his dedication to physical therapy and the rapid improvement in his knee.

Taz’s journey to recovery began after stepping away from his role as an announcer for All Elite Wrestling (AEW) earlier this year. His last AEW appearance coincided with his son, Hook, retiring the FTW Championship at AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam. Shortly after, Taz announced his plans for surgery, which took place on October 8.

Reflecting on the procedure, Taz shared that the operation was successful but emphasized that the real work lay ahead. He also humorously noted his disappointment at not being assigned room 13, a number he considers significant.

The wrestling legend has faced significant physical challenges throughout his career, including the need to replace both knees and both shoulders. However, Taz clarified that his injuries stemmed from years of intense weight training rather than in-ring action. Despite these challenges, he previously attempted regenerative treatments and worked through the pain before opting for surgery.

As Taz continues his recovery, fans and colleagues are eager to see him return to action in some capacity. SEScoops extends its best wishes to Taz for a swift and successful recovery.

Rey Fenix Set for Special Meet & Greet Appearance at House of Glory

0

Lucha Brothers member Rey Fenix has been announced for a House of Glory event.

The New York-based wrestling school and promotion has announced that Rey Fenix will make an appearance at their HOG Live For The Moment event on December 20th, where he will be doing a special Meet & Greet.

Rey Fenix is currently signed to AEW. However, his last appearance for the promotion took place on the July 20th edition of AEW Collision. The last time he competed inside the squared circle was at a CMLL event on July 26th. Amid his absence, Fenix and his brother Penta El Zero Miedo have been heavily linked with WWE for several months. However, the potential move has seen setbacks.

Earlier this year, reports suggested that Rey Fenix and Penta El Zero Miedo would become free agents after their contracts expire by the end of the year. Their move to WWE seemed imminent, but in September, reports emerged that AEW was trying to add injury time to Rey Fenix’s contract in order to keep him in the company. Further updates confirmed his deal runs well into 2025.

Rey Fenix Breaks His Silence on His Future

Taking to social media, Fenix recently addressed the speculation regarding his future. He said:

“There are many things that are not known, but that also should not be talked about. We must wait. Professionalism first and foremost, folks. We must not be the same as all those podcasts that go around spitting out what should not be spit out. Never diminish our work. There are things that should always be respected, and many are forgetting everything that wrestling has given them.”

Fenix is not the only one AEW is trying to keep in the promotion. AEW has taken a similar route with Ricky Starks as well. The company has opted to keep him signed until summer 2025. However, Starks has remained on the sidelines and was recently pulled from a GCW event, as well as all future events for the promotion. Nevertheless, he is set to make his debut for House of Glory next year.

Bobby Lashley Laments Brock Lesnar Feud: It Could’ve Been So Much More

0

AEW’s Bobby Lashley regrets that his feud with Brock Lesnar, a program he’d been aspiring to for years, hardly led up to his or fan expectations. On the Insight podcast, Lashley discussed working with the Beast and what could’ve gone differently.

“I wanted to do a lot more with it. I wish we could have really done the things that we could have.”

Lashley and Lesnar faced off one-on-one three times in WWE. Their first match at the Royal Rumble 2022 event saw interference by Roman Reigns. Their second match at that year’s Crown Jewel lasted just six minutes, while their final match at Elimination Chamber 2023 ended in what many considered a disappointing DQ finish

On the podcast, Lashley spoke of wanting training montages before his matches with Lesnar, believing the angle could’ve been like the movie Rocky. Lashley also revealed that he pitched a tag-title run with Lesnar, which would’ve later led to a feud.

“I don’t know if we could have put us two together as a tag team because it might have been too dominant, but I still see there were some people in there that we could have had great fights with.”

Lesnar hasn’t competed for WWE since SummerSlam 2023, with questions about his future due to Janel Grant’s lawsuit. Lashley has since joined AEW, where he has reunited with MVP and Shelton Benjamin as the Hurt Syndicate. Stay tuned to SEScoops for the latest on Lashley, as the All Mighty continues to make an impact, even after his feud with Lesnar didn’t reach his expectations.

Bobby Lashley: Donald Trump Was Ready To Fight At WrestleMania 23

0

President-Elect Donald Trump was more than willing to get in the mix of things during the infamous Battle of the Billionaires in WWE in 2007. The WrestleMania 23 contest saw Bobby Lashley represent Trump to face the late, great Umaga, who represented Vince McMahon. Lashley would win the match, which per the stipulation, would result in McMahon being shaved of his iconic hairdo.

On the Insight podcast, Lashley detailed the build-up to the match, which he found “funny all the way through.”

“You’re just watching these two powerhouses talk to each other, so they’re going back and forth, and they’re on top of everything.”

The match featured prominent promotion in WWE, including taking center stage on that year’s WrestleMania 23 poster. The image depicts Lashley and Umaga standing behind their representatives, though this was not the original plan.

“Somebody put it down on paper that me and Umaga were supposed to sit in the chairs and have those guys standing with their hands on our shoulders… Trump was like, ‘No, I don’t think we should do this… it makes me look old.”

During the match, Trump delivers a clothesline to McMahon in a clip the President-Elect has since used to encapsulate his issues with the media. The Apprentice star was never taught how to hit the move, Lashley added, before detailing McMahon’s attempt to prank his friend, who was eager to fight, on the biggest show of the year.

” Trump wanted to be a part of it. He wanted to do something. He was like, ‘I want to beat somebody up.’

“Vince’s whole thing was like, Haha, when he starts punching me, I’m gonna put my head down so he could punch my head. That’s the hardest part of my head, so it’s gonna hurt his hand.”

Trump was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2013, and will take office once again next month. Linda McMahon will join Trump as Secretary of Education after serving in his previous cabinet under a different role.

As for Lashley, he’s now a part of AEW and is quickly establishing himself as part of The Hurt Syndicate. Stay tuned to SEScoops for the latest on the former WWE World Champion as he, MVP, and Shelton Benjamin look to show their dominance in an All-Elite ring.

Triple H on New Day Split: “It’s Why We Do What We Do”

0

WWE CCO Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque couldn’t have been happier with the New Day’s split on Raw as it highlighted the emotional investment from fans. Speaking at WWE’s recent media event with Netflix. Levesque said he was “so happy for those guys” and addressed the raw emotion behind the segment.

“It’s those moments. It’s why we do what we do. Rock says it all the time, it’s that electricity, that connection with the people. There’s no greater feeling than that.”

The segment saw Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods turn on Big E, declaring that they wanted nothing to do with their now-former ally. The emotional segment instantly went viral, with The New Day and Big E both trending shortly after the segment aired on Monday.

Wrestling World Reacts As The New Day Betrays Big E On WWE Raw

It wasn’t just online where fans shared their shock over what happened. During the segment, WWE’s camera crew cut to the crowd several times, including a viral shot of a distraught fan in the crowd.

“We couldn’t have comically asked for a better shot of somebody selling that storyline for us.”

Kingston and Woods have now been listed as heels on WWE’s internal roster, PW Insider has reported. With emotions among fans still running high, fans are eager to see what’s next from Kingston and Woods, and whether Big E, who has been out of action since March 2022, will be able to get payback on the two men he’s considered brothers for the past decade.

Top Indie Star To Challenge Chris Jericho At ROH Final Battle 2024

0

ROH Final Battle will see Chris Jericho defend the ROH World Championship against one of the independent scene’s very top stars. During the December 4, tapings of ROH on Hobor Club, it was revealed that Matt Cardona will challenge Jericho for the gold.

This marks Cardona’s debut for Ring of Honor, and his first time sharing the ring with Jericho in over eight years. The pair last did battle on the July 4, 2016 episode of WWE Raw, on opposite ends of a 16-Man Tag Team Match in which Cardona’s team would get the win. The pair’s most recent singles match took place on Raw in March that same year, with Cardona once again getting the victory over Y2J.

Cardona has appeared for AEW in the past but opted not to sign with the promotion following his release from WWE in 2020. Instead, the former Long Island Iced-Z has spent the last four years establishing himself as a top-tier name on the independents, though has shown interest in a WWE return.

Chelsea Green Is ‘Patiently Waiting’ For Matt Cardona’s WWE Return

Braun Strowman Set For Non-WWE Event Amid Ongoing TV Hiatus

0

Braun Strowman will be taking his skills outside of WWE this month, amid an ongoing absence from the promotion’s programming. The Monday Night Raw Superstar will be a part of GLCW’s Blizzard Brawl event this Saturday, December 7, from the Waukesha County Expo Center in Waukesha, WI.

image 1

Braun has close ties to the city of Waukesha, as demonstrated in the 30-Minute Waukesha Strong documentary. The doc covers Strowman’s visit to the city to support the family of Jackson Sparks, an 8-year-old killed in the attack during the 2021 Waukesha Christmas parade. The doc also looks at Strowman’s own connection to Wisconsin, where most of his family are from.

Strowman has been off WWE TV since the September 30, edition of Monday Night Raw, where he suffered a groin tear during his match with ‘Big’ Bronson Reed. While Strowman made his in-ring return during a November 15, dark match, fans are yet to see the Monster Among Men back on our screens.

Braun isn’t the only notable name set for GLCW’s Blizzard Brawl. The show will also feature Santino Marella, EC3, Frankie Kazarian, Santino Marella, the Beautiful People, Chavo Guerrero, Zilla Fatu, Armando Estrada, and many more names from the world of wrestling, a tag-team match pitting The Newest Rockers (Kal Herro & Al Snow) taking on the fan-favorite duo of Santino Marella and Damien Sandow has been announced.

Taking to social media, McAfee expressed his gratitude and excitement for the opportunity to return to WWE. “An absolute honor to be asked back,” he wrote. “A childhood dream realized every single time I’m lucky enough to be in an arena with the @WWE Universe. Can’t wait to be talking into a microphone next to @MichaelCole again… He’s the ?. I’m excited to tell the worldwide audience on Netflix how great the WWE Superstars are… and how big of scumbags some of ‘em are too. Let’s go.”

McAfee previously stepped away from WWE commentary to focus on his role with ESPN’s College GameDay. During his absence, RAW’s commentary duties were filled by Wade Barrett and Joe Tessitore, while Michael Cole moved to SmackDown alongside Corey Graves.

Pat McAfee Teases WWE Royal Rumble Appearance

While Triple H did not specify the exact date of McAfee’s return, it is widely speculated that his comeback will coincide with RAW’s Netflix debut on January 6, 2024. The move to Netflix marks a new chapter for WWE, and McAfee has pledged to use the platform to elevate WWE’s popularity to a global audience.

Fans are eagerly awaiting McAfee’s dynamic energy back at the commentary desk, especially alongside his longtime broadcast partner, Michael Cole.

WWE Ring Boy Lawsuit Paused As Maryland Court Weighs Up Key Law

0

The lawsuit brought against WWE, TKO and others by former ‘ring boys’ has been put on pause due to an upcoming ruling by the Maryland Supreme Court. Federal Judge James K. Bredar ruled to stay proceedings until the Supreme Court rules on whether the state’s Child Victims Act is constitutional.

The CVA, which was first introduced in 2023, removes the statute of limitations for civil lawsuits involving child sexual abuse, even in cases of negligence. The law is crucial to the case brought forward, as they alleged abuse took place decades ago.

The lawsuit was filed in October and alleges that former WWE employee Mel Phillips sexually abused the five plaintiffs, anonymized as John Doe 1 through 5, while they worked as ring boys in the 1980s. It also claims that WWE, Vince, and Linda McMahon failed to act despite being aware of Phillips’ conduct. Phillips passed away in 2012.

Vince McMahon’s attorney Jessica T. Rosenberg, also representing McMahon in the Janel Grant lawsuit, has described the case as full of claims that are “untrue and unfounded.” Linda McMahon’s lawyer Laura Brevetti has described the lawsuit as “filled with scurrilous lies, exaggerations, and misrepresentations.”

The Maryland Supreme Court’s ruling on whether the CVA is constitutional or not is expected by August 2025. If passed, it will allow this case and others like this one to move forward, regardless of how much time has passed since the alleged abuse. This is an ongoing case and we seek to bring updates in due time.

Zilla Fatu Picks a Side in WWE’s Bloodline Civil War

The Bloodline Civil War remains one of WWE’s most captivating storylines, with tensions escalating between the original Bloodline led by Roman Reigns and the newer faction centered around Solo Sikoa. Recently, Zilla Fatu, a member of the legendary Anoa’i family, revealed which side he would align with if he joined WWE’s ongoing saga.

Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Zilla Fatu expressed his allegiance to Roman Reigns’ OG Bloodline. Explaining his choice, he stated,

“I might have to go with … Imma break it down why I have to go with him, but Imma have to go with Team OTC baby, Roman Reigns.”

Fatu also voiced discontent with Solo Sikoa’s adoption of the Samoan Spike, a finisher made famous by his late father, WWE Hall of Famer Umaga. “For him to you know … try and take my dad’s move or whatever, I don’t like it, so I’m going with Roman Reigns, whatever he needs, I’m there,” Fatu remarked, suggesting a personal reason for siding with Reigns over Sikoa.

The rivalry between the two Bloodline factions took center stage at WWE’s recent Survivor Series, where the original Bloodline, bolstered by CM Punk, defeated Solo’s faction and Bronson Reed in a brutal WarGames match. However, the tensions between the two sides appear far from resolved.

Zilla Fatu, currently carving his path in professional wrestling outside WWE, hinted at an eventual debut in the promotion. With his allegiance to Roman Reigns now clear, fans eagerly anticipate how his arrival could impact the ongoing Bloodline saga.

Bandido’s Return Teased in AEW Dynamite Vignette

0

On the December 4, 2024, episode of AEW Dynamite, a vignette aired heralding the imminent return of Bandido, the former Ring of Honor World Champion. The segment, styled as a Wild West scene, featured two cowboys discussing Bandido’s comeback, with one remarking, “If this outlaw returns, this whole town is in trouble.”

Bandido has been absent from in-ring action since June 2023 due to a wrist injury sustained during a match against Konosuke Takeshita on AEW Rampage. The injury necessitated two surgeries, one in July 2023 and another in December 2023, leading to a prolonged recovery period.

In October 2024, reports indicated that Bandido was backstage at AEW Dynamite, informing colleagues that he was “ready to go,” signaling his readiness to return to competition. The airing of this vignette suggests that his return to AEW programming is forthcoming, though an exact date has not been announced.

For a glimpse of Bandido’s dynamic in-ring style, here’s his AEW debut against Chris Jericho:

Ryan Nemeth Alleges Threats and Harassment in AEW Involving CM Punk

0

Ryan Nemeth has raised serious allegations against All Elite Wrestling (AEW) and former colleague CM Punk (Phil Brooks), citing threats, abuse, and harassment during his tenure with the company. According to a document obtained by Fightful, Nemeth detailed these issues in a complaint dated September 12, which included emails, texts, and call logs as evidence.

The conflict reportedly began after Nemeth referred to Punk as “literally the softest man alive” in a tweet, which he claims was made in character. This led to a backstage confrontation where Punk allegedly threatened Nemeth. Despite Nemeth’s attempts to address the situation with AEW’s legal representative, Megha Parekh, he felt the company failed to respond adequately. Instead, he was encouraged to cut a promo against Punk on television.

Nemeth expressed concerns about being “silently fired” as his paid-per-appearance deal neared expiration. He received support from fellow wrestlers like The Young Bucks, who assured him that his relationship with AEW wouldn’t be affected by the incident. Ultimately, Nemeth was let go from AEW. He stated that he doesn’t believe Punk was the sole cause of these issues, suggesting that similar problems would have arisen with someone else eventually.

This incident adds to the series of backstage controversies involving CM Punk during his time with AEW, including altercations with The Young Bucks and Jack Perry, which contributed to his departure from the company.
