AAA Sets Acapulco Event With Rey Mysterio, Omos On Poster

AAA announces a January 2 show at Arena GNP Seguros in Acapulco. Rey Mysterio, Omos and El Grande Americano are on the poster, but no matches are confirmed.

AAA is heading to Acapulco on January 2, 2027, with a show at Arena GNP Seguros that starts at 7:00 PM local time.

Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide announced the event Sunday evening, with Undertaker, part of AAA’s creative team alongside Jeremy Borash, per Superluchas, posting the details. His message promised “One unforgettable night in Acapulco” and pointed fans to wwe.com/events to register for event details.

The announcement graphic features El Grande Americano, La Catalina, Rey Mysterio, Dominik Mysterio, Omos, Perros del Mal, Psycho Circus, Mr. Iguana and La Parka, according to Fightful. No matches have been announced. The artwork carries both the WWE and AAA logos, and Boletomóvil and Mundo Imperial also appear on it.

That group lines up with the storyline AAA just played out. El Grande Americano retained the AAA Mega Championship at Héroes Inmortales on Saturday after on-screen GM Rey Mysterio hit Omos with a 619 and chair shots, then turned the chair on his own son Dominik. Americano pinned Dominik moments later. The father-son tension goes back to Dominik unmasking Rey Mysterio on AAA on Fox earlier this month. AAA hasn’t said whether any of it continues in Acapulco.

The show would also mark a return to the city. Superluchas reports AAA has not been to Acapulco since December 2022, when Noche de Campeones closed the company’s 30th anniversary tour at the same arena and Hijo del Vikingo retained the Mega Championship over Bandido. Fightful says the venue holds around 12,000 fans and is used for tennis tournaments.

No ticket prices or on-sale date appeared in the announcement.
