Brie Bella suffered a legitimate shoulder injury at WWE SummerSlam, and Triple H says it does not look good.
Speaking on the SummerSlam Night 1 post-show, the WWE Chief Content Officer confirmed Bella was taken for medical scans after the injury.
“I don’t have an update yet. She got some treatment here. Has been taken to the hospital to get some scans done,” Triple H said. “Don’t have a clean answer on it yet. I know she hurt her shoulder. Seems pretty bad, but I don’t have that answer yet. Hopefully we will soon, and hopefully it won’t be as bad as we thought it was.”
What Happened
Bella teamed with her twin sister Nikki Bella and Paige to face Fatal Influence’s Jacy Jayne, Fallon Henley and Lainey Reid in a six-woman tag match on night one of SummerSlam at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. Fatal Influence won the match in just over seven minutes when Jayne pinned Paige with the Rolling Encore.
Late in the match, Reid drove Bella into the ring steps at ringside, and Jayne followed up with a cannonball that crushed her against the steel. Bella spent the rest of the match clutching her right shoulder, her arm visibly hanging at her side as she worked her way back to the corner for a hot tag to Nikki.
Bellas Attack Paige After The Loss
Bella was well enough to take part in the post-match angle, joining Nikki in turning on Paige moments after the bell, though Nikki did the bulk of the physical damage, including the Rack Attack 2.0 that put Paige down while shouting that it was her house.
The timing stings. Nikki only just got back into action herself, missing WrestleMania 42 with an ankle injury before returning on the July 24 SmackDown to set up the SummerSlam match in the first place. The twins had barely reunited in the ring before this injury scare.
Paige and Bella are also not walking into this feud as champions. Fatal Influence took the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles off the pair at Saturday Night’s Main Event on July 18.
