CM Punk Puts Entire WWE Roster On Notice After SummerSlam

ByMike ReichlinProfessional Wrestling Journalist

CM Punk didn’t just retain the Undisputed WWE Championship at SummerSlam. He used his post-show mic time to put the entire roster on notice, one name at a time.

Punk retained his title over Cody Rhodes after Randy Orton returned through the crowd to RKO Rhodes, then took the ESPN post-show stage still riding the adrenaline.

I’m the belle of the ball, I got a target on my back and a title around my waist. There’s a reason I call myself the best in the world, everyone wants to be that, I am that, so come and get it.

Punk Names Names

Punk worked through his list starting with Orton, whose interference just handed Punk the win.

Gunther. Randy. I’m not stoked what Randy did, Randy’s a snake, Randy wants some? He can come get some. His dad Bob can get some. Randy’s mom wants some, I’ll slap her too.

He moved next to United States Champion Trick Williams.

Trick Williams? Whoop That Trick? I’ll give some to him too.

And he addressed the chants pushing for a program with Oba Femi, fresh off beating Brock Lesnar inside Hell in a Cell.

Oba hasn’t chosen what champion to go after. If he wants to wallow in obscurity go after Roman, if you wanna live under the bright lights, come after the real champ!

Punk closed out the appearance making clear he isn’t ducking any of them.

CM Punk is here, I am a target and I welcome every single archer who wants to shoot a bow and arrow at me, bring it on. I am not hiding on an island, I am not hiding in a bubble, I am not a p***y, let’s go.

Four names, four different corners of the roster: a rival brand’s top submission specialist in Gunther, an old issue turned uneasy ally in Orton, a rising champion in Trick Williams, and the promotion’s hottest new star in Femi. One defense into his new reign, Punk drew up his own board.
