Cody Rhodes makes an appearance on NXT TV.
The September 22 episode of the development brand officially kicked off the 2026 edition of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.
The show opened with the American Nightmare narrating an introductory video package for the tournament. Cody Rhodes also announced that he will be making an in-person appearance to present the cup to the winning team after the final.
The episode then saw Noam Dar & Romeo Moreno defeating Los Americanos and Creed Brothers defeating Harley Riggins & Jax Presley in first-round matches to advance in the tournament.
The 2026 Dusty Rhodes Classic features a total of 14 teams, with The Vanity Project and The Wagner Brothers receiving byes in the first round because of their status as the NXT and AAA tag team champions, respectively.
WWE has not revealed the full schedule for the tournament. So it’s not known when the final will be taking place, but the announced appearance from Cody Rhodes does add another layer of excitement to the whole thing.
