NXT will air live next Wednesday, November 4, instead of its usual Tuesday slot, and Cody Rhodes will be there in person for the final of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. The show airs at 8 p.m. ET on The CW in the United States and on Netflix internationally.
The move puts NXT directly against the Blood and Guts edition of AEW Dynamite from Jacksonville’s VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena. The cause is midterm election coverage on Tuesday, November 3, which Dave Meltzer said on Wrestling Observer Radio would have left NXT preempted on “far too many stations” had it stayed put.
Bryan Alvarez added in a post to his subscribers on X that WWE wants a big show. “Confirmed that November 4th NXT and AEW are going head-to-head. That’s the Blood and Guts show and NXT was told to load it up,” he wrote.
Rhodes Keeps A Promise From September
Rhodes narrated the video package that opened the tournament on the September 22 NXT and promised to hand out the Dusty Cup himself. “I look forward to presenting the winning team with the cup in person,” he said.
The semifinals aired Tuesday night. NXT Tag Team Champions Vanity Project (Brad Baylor and Ricky Smokes) faced Noam Dar and Romeo Moreno, while Hank and Tank, who knocked out the Creed Brothers, met AAA World Tag Team Champions El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. and Galeno.
The winners earn a shot at the NXT Tag Team Championship, the titles Vanity Project already holds. This is the first Dusty Classic since 2024, when Baron Corbin and Bron Breakker won it.
Before Wednesday, NXT runs Halloween Havoc on Saturday, October 31, with Grayson Waller defending the NXT Championship against Tony D’Angelo.
