People on the ground think the situation in Saudi Arabia is not as bad.
Between Ari Emanuel recently confirming that the event was still set for Riyadh and a new championship match being announced on Raw, WWE seems to be moving full steam ahead with the Crown Jewel PPV in Saudi Arabia despite serious safety concerns.
A new report from Fightful Select provided some update on how the people involved feel about the show moving forward. Interestingly, they noted that sources onsite expect the event to go ahead as planned, with claims that the situation is not nearly as bad:
Sources onsite that we spoke to claimed that the situation was ‘nowhere near as bad as the media makes it out to be,’ but WWE talent and staff we’ve spoken to are reasonably concerned.
Ariel Helwani recently revealed that members of the production crew for the Power Slap event set the day before the WWE PPV will fly into Bahrain and take a five-hour bus to Riyadh for the show. There is no word on if the WWE crew will be taking a similar route.
WWE was originally expected to confirm the date for the Saudi WrestleMania during this tour, though there is uncertainty regarding the announcement now.
