Dustin Rhodes is in the middle of writing his second book, and he says it will go much deeper than the first.
The AEW veteran made the comment on X on October 23, replying to a fan who asked whether he had ever thought about writing a book once his career is over. The fan pointed out that Rhodes has worked for the three biggest promotions in wrestling. Rhodes answered:
Already have. I am in the middle of writing my second book. This one will be way more in depth over my whole career, ups and down. Back to glory and doing it my way. My hands were tied with the other company
Rhodes did not name the company, but his first book, Cross Rhodes: Goldust, Out of the Darkness, was published by WWE in 2010. Written with Mark Vancil, it centered on his painful estrangement from his father, Dusty Rhodes, and the self-medication that nearly cost him his life.
Rhodes first said he was working on a second book in December 2024. Fightful reported at the time that he planned to write it with Alex Marvez. His latest post does not mention a co-writer, a publisher or a release date.
Rhodes remains on the sidelines. He has not wrestled for AEW since losing the TNT Championship to Kyle Fletcher in July 2025 and undergoing double knee replacement surgery. In a separate reply the same day, he said he is coming back but has only a year or so left as an in-ring competitor.
The jab at his old employer is not new. In May, a fan asked if Goldust would ever return to WWE, and Rhodes shut the idea down, saying he would not let his legacy be tarnished by taking 50% less pay.
