Buddy Matthews is no longer part of World Series Wrestling’s MegaMania tour, with the Australian promotion citing scheduling conflicts.
WSW announced the change in a post on Instagram, saying it had only just learned Matthews wouldn’t be able to appear. The promotion said it was disappointed but understands that schedules change, thanked fans for their understanding and said it hopes to bring him back on a future tour.
The statement doesn’t say whether the conflict is personal or professional. Matthews is signed to AEW and hasn’t wrestled since February 2025, when an ankle injury ultimately required surgery. He was advertised for the full five-show run, which would have been his first matches since the injury.
WSW first announced him for the tour in May, shortly after he turned up unannounced at a WSW show in Australia and attacked Donovan Dijak while still uncleared. He said then that he would be cleared by October. He hinted in July that he had been given the green light, and he later confirmed in an Instagram video that he was medically cleared.
MegaMania opens October 29 in Auckland, New Zealand, then moves through Brisbane, Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney, ending November 2.
AEW is in St. Louis on Wednesday, October 28 for its Halloween-themed Fright Night Dynamite, and this Saturday’s Collision is also being taped that night. The full schedule of wrestling events this week has the details.
