NXT has cancelled a match.
AAA star El Hijo del Vikingo was originally scheduled to defend his Latin American Championship against EK Prosper on the June 30 episode of the development show. Keanu Carver, however, attacked the champion backstage early in the night.
The NXT General Manager Robert Stone was forced to cancel the title match due to this attack. He ended up booking a bout between Prosper and Carver for the episode instead.
The ending of this bout saw Tank Ledger making an appearance. He put Keanu Carver through the barricade outside while the referee was busy checking on Prosper. Keanu managed to beat the count despite the attack but ran into the Busaiku knee when he got back in the ring, allowing Prosper to pick up the victory.
Vikingo Dealing With Real Life Injury
Cory Hayes of False Finish provided some backstage updates on the reason for this change. He revealed that El Hijo del Vikingo suffered a legitimate injury earlier in the day while preparing for the bout, forcing the company to cancel his title defence:
El Hijo del Vikingo was injured earlier today going over the scheduled match with EK Prosper. It is currently unknown how serious the injury is,
The report is in line with recent happenings as Vikingo competed in a highly praised match at last night’s SmackDown tapings. It suggests that his injury occurred during that performance or sometimes after.
