Samoa Joe’s next AEW appearance may already be locked in, and it looks like it’ll come against an opponent he’s never actually faced before.
On Wednesday’s Dynamite, Jack Perry appeared in a taped promo directly calling out Joe, challenging him to return and finally step in the ring together. Perry closed the segment by daring Joe to come back and make his day, and the camera then panned to a painted rendition of the “Joe is gonna kill you” chant on a wall behind him.
Perry stopped short of officially confirming the match for All Out, but given the way the segment was staged, that appears to be exactly where this is headed. If it happens, it would mark the first time the two have ever shared a ring.
Joe has been out of action since losing to Will Ospreay in an Owen Hart Foundation Cup quarterfinal at Double or Nothing in May, having spent the time since filming a new season of Peacock’s Twisted Metal.
He’s teased a return in recent months without confirming a date. Perry, meanwhile, has had a rough stretch since signing his new AEW contract in July, after an opening win over Nick Wayne, he’s gone 0-6 across singles, tag, and multi-man matches.
With All Out just days away, a Joe-Perry clash would give Joe a fresh addition to his in-ring résumé and give Perry a chance to snap his losing streak against one of AEW’s most intimidating veterans.
