Jake Roberts Admits Current WWE Product ‘Isn’t My Flavor’

WWE Hall of Famer Jake “The Snake” Roberts can appreciate the success of today’s WWE product, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the kind of professional wrestling he personally wants to watch.

Roberts was asked for his thoughts on the current state of WWE during an appearance on The Mick and Kenny Show, and his initial reaction suggested he knew giving a completely unfiltered answer could potentially get him into trouble.

Rather than tear into the company or its performers, Roberts kept his criticism measured. He acknowledged what WWE is doing while making clear that its current presentation simply doesn’t match his personal taste in wrestling.

That would get me in trouble. It’s not my flavor, okay? It’s not my flavor. I appreciate what they’re doing, but it’s not the flavor I like.

Roberts didn’t elaborate further on which specific aspects of WWE’s current approach don’t appeal to him, leaving his criticism focused on personal preference rather than singling out particular wrestlers, storylines or creative decisions.

It’s perhaps unsurprising that Roberts has a different perspective on what professional wrestling should look like.

“The Snake” became one of wrestling’s most recognizable personalities during an era built heavily around character work, psychology and promos. While he was never WWE Champion, Roberts became a major attraction through his calculated in-ring style and distinctive approach to storytelling.

His career took him through several major promotions, including WWE and WCW, before he eventually became part of AEW decades later. Roberts announced his departure from AEW earlier in 2026.
