Penta’s masked mystique, the foundation of his entire wrestling persona, was briefly compromised at FanaticsFest in New York City on July 18, 2026, and the moment escaped his control before he could contain it.
Streamer N3on was broadcasting live from the event when his cameraperson inadvertently caught the WWE star without his trademark mask as the group moved through the venue. However, he still had his face paint on, and his mask could be seen resting on a table in the background of the shot.
Penta approached N3on after realizing what had happened and asked that the footage be deleted. N3on reportedly agreed to pull the clip from his stream.
The damage control came too late. Viewers watching the broadcast live had already clipped the footage, and it spread across social media and wrestling communities before it could be scrubbed.
A masked wrestler’s identity was once guarded by the promotion itself, but a live feed with thousands of viewers can undo that protection in seconds, no matter how quickly the talent reacts.
N3on Banned From Filming, Then Apologizes
An event official later confronted N3on over the clip, telling him that recording was not permitted in that backstage area and pointing directly to the footage of Penta with his mask off. As a result, N3on was barred from filming at the WWE booth on day two of FanaticsFest.
N3on has since apologized. Streaming from WWE’s show at Madison Square Garden, where he was granted permission to broadcast, he addressed the controversy and said sorry to Penta directly. He framed the incident as a misunderstanding, explaining that staff had told Penta he could remove his mask in that area while separately clearing N3on to stream there, and that the two permissions simply clashed. He stressed that he never intended to expose Penta’s face on purpose.
The streamer was ultimately featured on the WWE broadcast at ringside as one of the celebrities in attendance. N3on noted on his own stream that the crowd booed him when his image hit the screen, a reaction he tied directly to the Penta situation.
What Penta Has Riding On SummerSlam
Penta is heading into one of the marquee dates of the WWE calendar as a champion. He holds the WWE Intercontinental Championship on Raw in his first reign, having beaten Dominik Mysterio for the title on the March 2, 2026 episode of Raw in Indianapolis.
He has been booked as an active, defending titleholder since. Penta retained against Ethan Page at Saturday Night’s Main Event on May 23, 2026, before WWE set the stage for his next challenge.
On the July 13, 2026 episode of Raw, WWE ran a seven-man Intercontinental Championship No. 1 Contender’s Gauntlet Match. Chad Gable emerged as the winner, earning the shot at Penta.
SummerSlam 2026 takes place across two nights, August 1 and August 2, at US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. Penta has been open about wanting to climb higher in WWE, having previously told fans he intends to become WWE World Champion.
