Rhea Ripley recently acknowledged the mounting pressure surrounding her upcoming Women's title match against Jade Cargill at WrestleMania 42.
Speaking on The Ebro, Laura & Rosenberg Show, 'The Eradicator' addressed the high expectations fans have for the highly anticipated bout. With fans discussing this matchup for months, she recognizes the spotlight will be intense before the bell even rings.
I do. I do. I definitely do. I feel like this is a match that a lot of people have wanted for a long time, especially at WrestleMania. There's already so much pressure going into that day and into that match.
Living Up to Past WrestleMania Performances
The pressure extends beyond this year's match. Ripley explained that her previous WrestleMania performances create an additional challenge, as she constantly feels the need to match or exceed what she accomplished before.
And then also going off of last year, it was the same at WrestleMania 39 when I faced Charlotte. Then going into WrestleMania 40, I was like, I have to do just as well as I did the year before. Like I really have to.
Responsibility to Elevate Jade Cargill
Ripley said facing Cargill adds another dimension to the pressure. With Cargill still building her in-ring experience compared to other talents, the former World Champ feels a responsibility to help deliver the caliber of match fans expect.
But now stepping in with someone that has only had limited experience within the wrestling industry compared to a lot of people on the show, I do have that pressure to kind of uplift her and bring her to a different level so we can go out there and we can make magic just like everyone expects from us.
WrestleMania 42 takes place on April 18 and 19 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
