Sheamus is staying tight-lipped on the specifics of his upcoming WWE exit, but he did open up about how he’s spending his time away from the company.
Reports emerged earlier this month that the 48-year-old star is expected to depart WWE once his contract runs out. Sheamus remains under contract until October 1, 2026, later than initially assumed. Sheamus signed with WWE in late 2006 and is a three-time WWE Champion and one-time World Heavyweight Champion.
‘The Celtic Warrior’ recently spoke to Adam Glyn of Adam’s Apple, where the veteran talked about enjoying a break, taking his wife to Paris, heading home to Dublin to see family, and feeling like he’s in some of the best shape of his career. He also mentioned he’ll be going by his real name, S. Farrelly, going forward. He said:
I’m just enjoying my time off. I’m having a good time. I’m bringing the missus over to Paris and going back to Dublin to see the family. Enjoying my workouts. I feel like I’m in the best shape of my life. I’m just in a really good place. It’s been awesome.
Asked directly about his WWE situation, Sheamus kept things vague, saying only that “some circumstances came up” that he couldn’t get into.
He did reflect on the length of his run with the company, noting he left Ireland back in 2007 and that the recent time off has finally let him catch up with family, including a niece and nephew he doesn’t get to see often. He said:
Some circumstances came up. I can’t really talk about it, obviously. But, 19 years is a long time, a good crack. I left Ireland in 07, so I haven’t really had the luxury to go home and see my family and see my friends.
The last couple weeks now I’ve had a chance to kind of restructure that and get back and catch up on birthdays and missed opportunities. I got a nephew and niece back home, Theo and Sophia. Love the kids and I get to see them more now. They’re awesome. Six and four.
