AEW Reportedly Has No Urgency To Sign Sheamus Despite Interest

AEW stars want Sheamus, but Fightful Select reports AEW feels no urgency to sign him, and he has reportedly talked with other promotions since leaving WWE.

AEW reportedly feels no urgency to bring in Sheamus, even though some of its top names want him, according to Fightful Select.

Claudio Castagnoli and Adam Copeland are among the AEW talents who have made clear they would like to see Sheamus in the company, the report says. There are no signs a deal is close. Sheamus has reportedly held discussions with other promotions since leaving WWE, and it is unclear whether he has had direct negotiations with AEW.

Sheamus became a free agent on October 1 when his WWE contract expired, ending a run of nearly 20 years. Fightful Select reported in July that he would leave when the deal ran out after rejecting an offer to restructure it.

The same outlet reported on October 7 that big veteran names in AEW had pushed for the company to sign him, but that he was not signed and there had been no substantial talks.

TNA Made A Call

TNA reached out to Sheamus about working Bound For Glory, Fightful Select reported on October 13. The idea was for him to answer Moose’s open challenge. As of two weeks earlier, Sheamus had not committed to the booking, and Fightful said TNA did not choose Max Caster over him.

PWInsider Elite also reported that a Bound For Glory appearance was never locked in and that there was no indication AEW and Sheamus had talked. Caster took the spot, lost to Moose, and was later cut by TNA over his entrance rap.

Sheamus has also announced a non-wrestling appearance for November 14. For now, his next wrestling destination remains uncertain.
