A title unification match.
Tonight’s episode of NXT featured Wren Sinclair challenging Zaria for her Women’s North American Championship. The ending of the match was a chaotic one as Saquon Shugars and Dion Lennox came out of the entry tunnel fighting each other.
The two entered the ring and exited from the other side as Shugars took Lennox out with a crossbody. Cutler James followed them into the ring with a chair but Sinclair sent him to the floor as well with a dropkick right onto the steel chair.
The distraction allowed Zaria to take advantage as she delivered an F5 to Wren and pinned the challenger to retain her title.
Sinclair confronted NXT General Manager Robert Stone later in the night, demanding a rematch for the title after the distractions in her bout tonight.
When Stone said that he will have to think about it, Sinclair offered to ‘sweeten the pot’ by putting her Women’s Speed Title on the line for a rematch at Heatwave, and the title unification match was then made official.
A title match between NXT Women’s Champion Kendal Grey and Kelani Jordan has already been announced for the August 30 event. Apart from this, a #1 contender’s match for the NXT Championship had been booked for this week’s show but it ended in no contest after an unexpected debut. You can check out more about it here.
