Triple H is writing a Spider-Man story. The WWE Chief Content Officer is credited as one of the writers on Marvel’s Amazing Spider-Man #1000, according to the publisher’s newly released preview and solicitation details for the milestone issue, which hits comic shops September 30.
Paul “Triple H” Levesque’s story is titled “The Big Night,” with art by Ed McGuinness. Marvel hasn’t released plot details, but the credit puts the WWE Hall of Famer in a lineup that includes Frank Miller, Brian Michael Bendis, Dan Slott, J.M. DeMatteis, Larry Lieber and Fargo creator Noah Hawley.
His contribution wasn’t part of the anniversary lineup Marvel unveiled in July, which featured stories from Slott, Bendis, Miller, Hawley, DeMatteis and Lieber.
Joe Kelly and Pepe Larraz lead the 104-page issue with “Ravaged,” which introduces a new villain named Ravage. Marvel says more than 400,000 copies have been ordered, and a second printing with sketch covers by John Romita Jr. and Larraz is due October 28.
The book was originally scheduled for September 16 before being pushed back two weeks. It carries a $9.99 cover price.
Triple H isn’t the first wrestler to write Spider-Man. Raven co-wrote Spider-Man’s Tangled Web #14 with Brian Azzarello in 2002, a story centered on Crusher Hogan, the wrestler from Spider-Man’s origin.
The wrestling connection carries over to the next issue as well. CollectMajor announced a licensed Amazing Spider-Man #1001 variant cover this week that shows Spider-Man taking on the owners of MAJOR, including Matt Cardona and Brian Myers.
