WWE has stopped shopping in CMLL for now, with one name still on the list.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that the belief is WWE is not currently looking to add anyone new from CMLL. The priority is filling AAA television with established AAA names and WWE wrestlers rather than importing more talent. The exception is Persephone, who is still expected to receive an offer if she becomes available.
That interest is not new. WWE has been watching her since Forbidden Door 2025, where she stood out in a four-way for the TBS Championship, and the Observer reported in April that people in WWE were already talking about going after her when her deal lapses. She is 24, the reigning CMLL World Women’s Champion, and signed a dual AEW and CMLL contract in January that runs out later this year.
The company has a template for this. Stephanie Vaquer caught WWE’s eye at Forbidden Door 2024 and is now one of the biggest names in its women’s division.
What has changed is her position. Bryan Alvarez said on Wrestling Observer Live last month that WWE cannot make sense of how AEW is using her.

He added that WWE would want her immediately if her deal came due, while in AEW she has mostly turned up and lost, including four unsuccessful TBS Championship attempts.
Persephone has said she has never had direct contact with WWE and believes her CMLL deal prevents it, and that she signed with AEW and CMLL because she wanted to stay with the promotion that built her. WWE already took La Catalina out of CMLL in April and put her on AAA television.
