The Miz has responded after Pat McAfee posted a photo of a fan sign reading “The Mike” from Friday’s SmackDown in Philadelphia, the latest escalation in a running nickname dispute involving Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Jacob Misiorowski.
McAfee shared the image on X with the caption “LOOKS LIKE IT’S REALLY CATCHING ON @mikethemiz.” Miz quote-tweeted it with a three-word reply.
Misiorowski, the Brewers right-hander, has been nicknamed “The Miz” by fans and broadcasters. McAfee started calling the wrestler “The Mike” instead, and the name has followed him to WWE events.
Where The Nickname Feud Started
The two appeared together on Friday’s episode of The Pat McAfee Show, where Miz argued his claim to the name outranks the pitcher’s. He pointed to a résumé of 22 championships, including two world titles, and told Misiorowski to find a new nickname of his own. Former Green Bay Packers linebacker AJ Hawk was also part of the conversation.
Misiorowski didn’t back down. “It sounds like I need to get on WWE.. We need to have a fight about this,” the pitcher said during the segment.
The pair had crossed paths on the show before, including a May appearance where Miz first addressed fans using the nickname for the pitcher.
Miz is coming off an appearance at SummerSlam and shared the ring with Danhausen at a WWE live event in Fairfax on Thursday. McAfee hasn’t appeared on WWE television since WrestleMania 42.
