The former WWE ring announcer has been in the news recently after it was revealed that her October 2024 exit from the company came with a staggering 2-year non-compete clause that is finally approaching its end.
This reveal renewed discussions of the former WWE star potentially joining AEW as a ring announcer. So it wasn’t a surprise when a report from Fightful Select brought word that the possibility of Irvin joining the company has been discussed internally a number of times.
Samantha Irvin herself reacted to the news on X. She posted a GIF with the caption: “they internally discussed me?!”:
The former WWE broadcaster is married to current AEW star Ricochet and has been backstage at many AEW events. So the talk about her potentially joining the Tony Khan-owned promotion is not a surprise.
Though the report also claimed that Samantha will not be joining AEW immediately when she becomes a free agent this month. While she has a great relationship with the company, a TV appearance is more likely to happen down the road.
The former America’s Got Talent star has previously claimed that she hates announcing. Real name Samantha Johnson, the female star said that she only saw announcing as her way into the wrestling world, with aspirations to become a manager one day. So it’s possible that she will appear on AEW TV when the company can find a different role for her.
