AEW Star Shuts Down Sheamus Signing Rumors

ByBishal RoyProfessional Wrestling Journalist

Brian Cage has publicly shot down the notion that Sheamus is bound for All Elite Wrestling, and his dismissal lines up with reported hesitancy inside the company about adding more veteran talent to an already crowded roster.

The AEW and ROH star addressed the speculation directly, poking fun at fans who expect the departing WWE wrestler to show up in Tony Khan’s promotion.

Cage posted a clip from AEW Collision of himself delivering a running kick, using it to tell followers that Sheamus fans should temper their expectations. He captioned the footage with a nod to Sheamus’ signature move.

That’s the only brogue kick you’re going to see around here!” Cage wrote, per Brian Cage (X/Twitter).

The joke plays off a wave of fan speculation about Sheamus’ next move. Multiple reports state that his current WWE contract is due to expire in October 2026 and that he rejected at least one proposed restructured deal that would have paid him less than his previous terms.

Why AEW May Pass On Sheamus

Cage’s take echoes commentary suggesting AEW is cautious about major new signings. The reasoning centers on roster depth, with a large group of AEW and ROH talent already struggling for regular TV time across Dynamite, Collision, and Rampage.

Sheamus is not set to reach free agency until his current deal lapses, and until then any move is purely speculative.

This is not the first time AEW and Sheamus have crossed wires. There has been prior friction tied to negotiations involving Sheamus’ representation and AEW, adding another layer to the current chatter.
