WWE is keeping the Big Cass drumbeat going.
This week’s episode of Monday Night Raw featured another vignette teasing the impending return of the former WWE star, following the first tease a week earlier. This one leaned into the personal side of his story, touching on Cass’s struggles and his 2018 release from the company. As before, the package closed on the 8/3 date, pointing to the Raw after SummerSlam.
Enzo Amore, Cass’s former tag partner, again went unseen on camera, though his presence lingered. The vignette included crowds reciting his “and you can’t teach that” catchphrase, a nod to the pair’s white-hot first run. That’s kept the reunion speculation alive even as WWE holds Enzo out of the spotlight.
There may be a simple reason for the split presentation. Per the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the plan is for Enzo to head to NXT while Cass starts on the main roster, which would explain why the two are being teased apart rather than together. WWE has been interested in reuniting the duo since reports first surfaced in May, when Enzo was spotted at the Performance Center.
The former “Big Bill” in AEW, Cass became a free agent this summer after leaving the promotion. Fightful Select reported in June that he was WWE-bound. As Enzo and Cass, the two were one of the most over acts in wrestling during the mid-2010s, riding the SAWFT catchphrase and their electric entrances to NXT Tag Team gold before splitting in a 2017 storyline. Both were released in 2018.
