WWE Hall of Famer Booker T recently offered WWE some pointed advice on how to handle rising star Oba Femi, and it comes down to one thing: keep him solo.
The WWE legend believes Femi’s momentum is too valuable to risk by folding him into a faction at this stage of his run.
Speaking on his Hall of Fame podcast, Booker argued that Femi is exactly where he needs to be as a singles act. He compared the young star’s trajectory to a rocket ride to the top, cautioning WWE against slowing that ascent with group dynamics.
Yeah, I wouldn’t want to play with that. You don’t do anything like that, as far as the faction goes, with somebody like Oba until he’s in his tenure and getting ready, until he’s well into his career,” Booker said.
Right now, Oba’s just getting off the ground. He’s got the rocket on him right now; he’s going straight to the top. He’s doing everything right. Oba Femi, the only thing they’ve got to do now is just pull the trigger and let Oba Femi do his thing.
Why Booker Wants Femi Kept Solo
Booker did not close the door on Femi eventually working alongside allies. He simply believes that chapter belongs later.
There definitely will be room for something like that in the future, but I just don’t think it’s time for something like that right now,” he added.
The point carries some weight given Booker’s own path. He built his singles legacy only after long runs in Harlem Heat and other groups, so his push for Femi to skip that step reflects how differently WWE is fast-tracking the Nigerian-born powerhouse.
The SummerSlam Test Against Brock Lesnar
Femi’s singles push now runs straight into Brock Lesnar. On the July 20 episode of Raw, General Manager Adam Pearce gave Femi a choice: cash in his guaranteed world title opportunity or face Lesnar inside Hell in a Cell at SummerSlam.
Femi chose Lesnar, telling Pearce he would take his title shots whenever he wants.
