Braun Strowman Wrestles First Match Since WWE Exit

ByAndrew RavensProfessional Wrestling Journalist

Braun Strowman is back in the ring.

The former WWE Universal Champion made his in-ring return at Great Lakes Championship Wrestling’s Blizzard Brawl, teaming with Kal Herro to defeat Tony Evans, Drew Hernandez, and Tommy Boy in a handicap match.

It was Strowman’s first match since his WWE contract expired in July 2025, and his first time back between the ropes since the April 18, 2025 episode of SmackDown. He has battled health issues over the past year, but he’s also found success away from wrestling with his show “Everything on the Menu,” which airs on USA Network after WWE SmackDown.

Strowman had been coy about a comeback. Back in May, he offered a cryptic answer to fans wondering when he would compete again.

For everyone asking when I’m getting back in the ring. When a dump truck of gold blocks get dumped on my porch!!!!

GLCW is familiar ground for the big man. He wrestled for the Wisconsin-based promotion multiple times between his WWE stints in 2021 and 2022, and this appearance marked his first independent match since 2022.
