Charlotte Flair's Plan For The 5-Woman Ladder Match At SummerSlam

Charlotte Flair knows the odds change with four other women in the ring, but she is not treating the Interim WWE Women’s Championship Ladder Match as chaos she has to survive. The Queen laid out her mindset for the match during an appearance on ESPN’s SportsCenter ahead of SummerSlam 2026.

I want to be Jade’s biggest obstacle, but the thing that I have on my side is experience. This will be my eighth SummerSlam,” Flair said. “Regardless of how many opponents, I own the prize.

The personal stakes go beyond the title. Jade Cargill injured Alexa Bliss, Flair’s real-life best friend, during a SmackDown attack last month, and Flair has made clear she has not let it go.

Jade did take out my best friend and I’m here and she isn’t,” Flair said. “Remaining focused and remembering that this is a ladder match, it is dangerous, anything can happen at any time, going in there, trusting myself, trusting my experience, it just takes a lot of grit.

The match was created after Rhea Ripley was ruled out of SummerSlam with a knee injury, leaving the WWE Women’s Championship picture reshuffled. Flair, Cargill, Tiffany Stratton and Chelsea Green and Lash Legend are locked in as the other participants in the high stakes the ladder match.

WWE also scrapped a planned Flair-Cargill singles match once both women landed in the same title match.

The Interim WWE Women’s Championship Ladder Match takes place on night two of SummerSlam 2026, Sunday, August 2, at US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.
