3 Things We Learned From Heyman Hustle's Roundtable Debut Episode

Cody Rhodes, Charlotte Flair and O'Shea Jackson Jr. opened up about growing up with famous fathers on Heyman Hustle TV's roundtable with host Jacob Heyman.

Jacob Heyman brought together three fellow “legacies” for Heyman Hustle TV’s roundtable.

The Heyman Hustle TV editor-in-chief and son of Paul Heyman sat down in New York City with Cody Rhodes, Charlotte Flair and actor O’Shea Jackson Jr., the son of Ice Cube. In the hour-long conversation, they talked about growing up with famous fathers and the “nepo baby” label.

Here are three things we learned.

1. Cody Rhodes says his work ethic comes from his mom

Cody said he quickly grew tired of hearing that he had to work twice as hard because he is Dusty Rhodes’ son.

You got to do more than everybody else, m———-, I was already gonna do more than everybody else.

He said that drive doesn’t come from Dusty at all.

My work ethic doesn’t come from my father, it comes from my mom. She don’t get no credit.

Jackson agreed that most of the pressure comes from outside the family.

It’s a third party way of thinking.

My dad never told me that. People on the outside told me that.

Cody admitted the comparisons stung. He recalled Triple H once saying at a press conference that he couldn’t see Cody without seeing Dusty. He remembered thinking:

I hope I do enough. I hope I do enough that that changes at some point.

2. What Flair couldn’t get past

Charlotte said her pressure was never about matching her father.

For me, the pressure wasn’t about living up to his legacy; it was more about protecting it.

She said she felt she had to be perfect in every part of her life because everything would be compared to him.

Charlotte also shared a recent heart-to-heart with Ric. She asked what he could never get past mentally during his career. His answer, she said, was being made to cut his hair by then-WCW boss Jim Herd.

He’s like, ‘Well, when I went through the Charlotte airport, no one knew who I was.’

Ric told her that her mother and Arn Anderson got him through it.

Charlotte added that Natalya changed how she views her dad’s posts about her on social media. Natalya told her Ric has earned the right to say whatever he wants.

He really just wants better for me because he knows how good I am, and not because I’m his kid.

3. Jacob Heyman was behind Paul Heyman’s haircut

Jacob saved his own breaking news for the end.

I’ve never revealed this to the world, but I told him to cut the ponytail. That was my idea.

Cody joked that “some would say you did a service.”

Jacob also recalled the first time he saw his father on TV. In 2012, Paul told him Brock Lesnar would wish him a happy birthday on Raw. Instead, Paul walked through the curtain as Lesnar’s representative.

My dad’s played a heel on TV for 40 years, and he’s the biggest babyface in my life. He’s my hero. He’s my best friend, and I couldn’t ask for a better dad.
