CM Punk and Rey Mysterio are both open to running it back in the ring.
The two former world champions addressed the idea during the Mattel WWE Elite Squad panel at San Diego Comic-Con. Punk immediately indicated he would accept another match, while Mysterio joked that he had brought his wrestling gear with him.

Punk and Mysterio have worked as partners since Punk’s return to WWE in 2023, most recently teaming up in a loss to The Vision’s Austin Theory and Bronson Reed on Raw this past December. The two have not met in singles competition during Punk’s current run. Their history includes a lengthy rivalry built around Punk’s Straight Edge Society, with their most recent archived singles match coming on the August 6, 2012 episode of Raw.
I would love to. Every time I’ve got to share the ring with this man, whether we’re on the same side or we’re on the opposite, it’s been a pleasure. So, I would really love to do it again.
Mysterio made the remark reflecting on their shared history as both allies and rivals. Punk currently holds the Undisputed WWE Championship and defends it against Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam this weekend. Mysterio, a WWE Hall of Famer, recently discussed his own retirement plans with son Dominik Mysterio.
