Rey Mysterio’s daughter is officially a WWE trainee, and the roster sheet does not say Mysterio.
PWInsider reports that Aalyah has started at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando and now appears on the company’s internal roster, listed under her surname Gutierrez.
That is her legal name and her father’s, so it is not necessarily a creative decision. Internal listings tend to use legal names regardless of how anyone is eventually billed. Still, for a family whose entire brand is the mask and the name, it is worth noting which one WWE has written down.
The move has been building for two weeks. PWInsider first reported in late July that she was expected to start shortly, and the Wrestling Observer corroborated it. Friends posted photos of her with a cake reading “Florida’s about to get 619’d,” which was as close to confirmation as anyone got at the time.
Aalyah is 24. She graduated from UC San Diego in 2025 with a degree in human biology, at her father’s request that she finish school first, and first stepped into a ring that October. She has since trained at Natalya and TJ Wilson’s Dungeon and attended Bayley’s Lodestone camp.
WWE audiences have seen her before, though never as a wrestler. She was at the centre of the 2020 storyline involving Rey, Dominik, Seth Rollins and Buddy Murphy, and appeared again during the Rey and Dominik feud heading into WrestleMania 39.
Her brother saw this coming. Dominik told The Ariel Helwani Show recently that his sister was on the way in, using it as part of his argument that the clock is running on retiring their father.
