Cage & Cope kept their titles at AEW Redemption, and the win instantly set up one of the biggest tag matches AEW can make.
Christian Cage and Adam Copeland retained the AEW World Tag Team Championship against the Death Riders’ Claudio Castagnoli and PAC at the Bell Centre in Montreal, then found out who’s next before they even left the ring.
The challengers jumped the champions before the bell. Claudio and PAC ambushed Copeland, and when Cage sprinted down for the save, he got swarmed too. Cage fought his way back with an outside dive and a top-rope headbutt for a near fall. The match settled into back-and-forth exchanges until Copeland got the hot tag, running through PAC with a corner powerbomb and a DDT. PAC nearly stole it with a rope-assisted rollup before he was caught, and the Death Riders landed a double Neutralizer for a two count. In the end, Copeland caught PAC with a spear to seal the win.
The real story came after the bell. The Young Bucks made their way out, congratulated the champions, and a graphic confirmed the next title defense: Cage & Cope will put the belts on the line against Matt and Nick Jackson at All In.
Matt Jackson recently called it one of the last big-money tag matches left on the table, and now it’s happening on AEW’s biggest stage of the year, All In: London on August 30 at Wembley Stadium.
