An unexpected NXT opening.
The July 28 episode of the development show opened with Grayson Waller cutting a fiery promo. The WWE star first mentioned his early success on the main roster but claimed that the last two years of his career have been an absolute embarrassment
Without naming Austin Theory, the 36-year-old noted that he spent one year carrying 240 pounds of idiot on his back and said that at the end of the day, that ‘Marty Jannetty’ was still allergic to the microphone.
Grayson Waller then said that he spent the last year of his career pretending to be at a funeral, while the only thing dying was his career. Waller said that it was a New Day and confirmed his intention of going after the NXT Championship.
The mic got cut as he namedropped Shawn Michaels and started talking about the weak men’s division of NXT. This didn’t stop Grayson as he got in front of a camera and continued talking before the feed went to the commercial abruptly.
Grayson Waller last wrestled on Raw in April. He had been working NXT live events since then, so it appears that his return to the development brand has been in works for some time.
