Owens has been out of action for 16 months and missed two WrestleMania events during his recovery. He most recently appeared on the NXT Great American Bash panel and as a guest on Busted Open Radio, but has not competed in the ring during his absence.
The timing of the post adds an extra layer of intrigue. His longtime friend Sami Zayn won the Undisputed WWE Championship at Night of Champions before losing it to a returning CM Punk on Monday’s Raw in Chicago, a development that would typically prompt a strong reaction from Owens. Punk and Owens have not crossed paths physically since Punk returned to WWE in 2023.
A return for Owens opens the door for a range of fresh matchups, including Punk, Oba Femi, Bron Breakker, and Gunther, as well as another chapter in his ongoing rivalry with Zayn. WWE has not announced a return date.
