Kofi Kingston Brings Back Jamaican Accent From WWE Days

Kofi Kingston went back to his old WWE roots by bringing back his Jamaican accent after a fan called him out on a live stream.

Kofi Kingston returned to his old WWE roots, where it all began for him.

The former New Day member debuted in WWE in 2007. He was billed as the first-ever Jamaican to wrestle in the company, despite being from Africa. Kofi Kingston represented the Jamaican colors and even had a popular accent, which he later abandoned when he was billed from his original country.

During Agent00’s live stream on Twitch that began before AEW Blood & Guts 2026, a user asked Kingston what happened to his Jamaican accent, seemingly taking a shot at him. The former WWE Champion decided to respond to him in the same accent, saying:

You talking about old school Kofi Kingston … the accent always inside, it’s always inside, don’t worry about where it is … it’s inside … everytime, don’t worrry about it.

Kofi Kingston’s early character had garnered signficant attention for him. It led him to win multiple mid-card singles titles, following which he fully embraced his real roots in Africa. After that, Kingston was a part of The New Day, became a World Champion, and now he and Austin Creed are members of the AEW roster.

However, his Jamaican persona was a popular thing back in the day. So, it was heartwarming to see a little WWE throwback from Kofi tonight.
