The Lucha Bros are officially reunited — at least for one night, and inside a WWE ring for the very first time.
Following the July 31 episode of SmackDown, Penta and Rey Fenix teamed up in a dark match, taking on Dominik Mysterio and JD McDonagh. It marked a genuine milestone: despite their history together as a team, this was the first time the brothers had ever wrestled as a tag team under the WWE banner.
The pairing comes at an interesting time for both men individually. Penta currently holds the WWE Intercontinental Championship and is gearing up to defend it against Chad Gable at SummerSlam.
Fenix, who previously spoke about Lucha Bros reunion, remains the reigning AAA Cruiserweight Champion, giving the brothers a combined championship pedigree spanning two promotions heading into this reunion.
It had been a while since fans last saw the duo on the same page. Their previous tag outing came all the way back in July 2024, on AEW Rampage — making this WWE dark match their first time sharing a ring in about two years.
While it’s unclear whether this was a one-off or a sign of things to come, seeing Penta and Fenix reunited, even in a dark match setting, is a moment plenty of lucha libre and WWE fans alike will be glad to see.
