Oba Femi had an interaction with Brock Lesnar after their match.
The Ruler picked up the biggest victory of his career when he defeated The Beast Incarnate in the longest match of their trilogy in the SummerSlam Saturday main event. After the bout, the former UFC Champion put his opponent over as the future of WWE, describing himself as the past.
On a recent episode of Busted Open Radio, Bully Ray revealed that he went to meet Brock Lesnar in his locker room after the match where Paul Heyman was also present. While they were reminiscing, Oba Femi entered the scene:
There was a knock at the door. And when Brock Lesnar opened that door, who was on the other side? Oba Femi. And why was Oba Femi coming to Brock Lesnar’s locker room? To thank him.
I Saw The Look On Oba’s Face: Bully Ray
Bully Ray claimed that even though he has lost faith in wrestling becuase of the watering down of the industry, the one moment made him happy. According to him, it was not Oba Femi the character, but the young wrestler behind the persona who was coming to pay his respect to a veteran:
And as much faith as I have lost in wrestling because I see the watering down of the industry, especially within the locker room, it made me so happy and warmed my heart to see Oba coming to thank Brock. Not just the handshake afterwards, ‘Thanks, brother. I appreciate it.’
It’s the going out of the way to come to the veteran’s locker room and show the appreciation. And I saw the look on Oba’s face; this was a different person than the Oba Femi in front of the camera. This was the appreciative, younger wrestler coming to pay respect to the veteran who just passed the torch to him.
Oba Femi teased a feud with Bron Breakker on this week’s Raw after SummerSlam. Though he is also booked for an upcoming episode of SmackDown, which could change his trajectory. You can check out more about it here.
