Oba Femi defeated Brock Lesnar inside Hell in a Cell in the main event of WWE SummerSlam Night One, handing ‘The Beast Incarnate’ his first-ever loss inside that unforgiving structure. But it was what happened after the bell that really caught fans off guard.

Rather than the expected post-loss frustration, Lesnar embraced Femi in the ring and publicly called him the future of WWE.

Oba Femi Is The Future

Speaking at the post-show press conference, Femi admitted the gesture caught him completely off guard, describing it as a genuine swerve he didn’t see coming. He added that he’s always sensed mutual respect between himself and Lesnar, even if it had never been said out loud before.

The hug and the public endorsement was definitely a swerve. I did not see that coming. I knew that deep down Brock has always respected me. He knows that deep down, I respect him as well.

As for how he pulled off the win itself, Femi didn’t have a clean explanation — but he was clear about what it means going forward, declaring that the future of WWE isn’t coming later. It’s already here, and it’s him.

I don’t know how I survived. The truth is this, the future is not far away. The future is now. The future is me.
