Reported WrestleMania Main Event WWE Is Building To

The belief is that WWE is building toward Roman Reigns against Oba Femi in Riyadh. That is not the same as it being booked.

Dave Meltzer wrote in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the company appears to be heading that way for the Sunday main event of WrestleMania 43.

Nick Khan to Variety regarding WrestleMania, said that the key creative is already done, barring injury, for WrestleMania. The belief is they are building to Reigns vs. Femi as the main event on the Sunday. As we’ve seen every year, whatever plans there are will get changed likely many times due to injury.

The other name in the conversation has a scheduling problem. Speculation about The Rock returning to face Reigns has run for months, and Meltzer said in August that a Fast and Furious shoot makes a match unlikely.

Because that movie is gonna take months to film, if he is in it, which he is scheduled to be in it, that him doing a match at WrestleMania would be out the window. I mean, could he fly to Saudi Arabia and show up? Of course. Of course he could, and he could always do that.

Femi has been positioned for something like this since the summer. He beat Brock Lesnar inside Hell in a Cell at SummerSlam in a match commentary framed as a torch-passing, and Lesnar called him the future of WWE afterwards. Bron Breakker has spent the weeks since arguing that the label belongs to him, and their match at Sunday Night’s Main Event ended when Bronson Reed returned and cracked Femi with a chair.

Reigns beat Seth Rollins in the SummerSlam Night 2 main event, closing out the Shield rivalry.

WrestleMania 43 runs from Riyadh in April, the first time the event has been staged outside North America. WWE’s partnership with Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority began in 2018, and Crown Jewel returns to the country on November 7.
