On the latest episode of Six Feet Under with Mark Calaway, Rey Mysterio gave an update on his daughter Aaliyah’s wrestling future.
The WWE Legend revealed that after graduating college, she’s committing to full-time training at the WWE Performance Center — and shared his dream of making history with her the way he has with his son Dominik.
“We’ve been going back and forth trying to see if Aaliyah was motivated enough to go up to the PC and dedicate some time to training full-time. She tried it out one time with me last October. She loved it — she jumped in the ring once. I said, okay, let’s set you up to go up there for about two weeks, see if you can wake up every day and do this Monday through Friday, weekends off, then back again Monday through Friday. She did two weeks and really loved it. I wasn’t expecting that. She’d told me, ‘Dad, when are you going to take me to the ring?’ I said, when you graduate, I’ll take you to the ring. She graduated in July of last year — that’s from UCSD, Human Biology, she showed me the diploma — and it was, okay, I’m ready. I took her up in October of last year. She loved it. Sent her again this year in February for two weeks. She loved it, and now we’re in May and she’s getting ready to go up there and establish herself at the PC.”
“I’m excited. If you would have told me both my kids are going to grow up and become wrestlers, I think you’re wrong. The cool thing is, I’ve never pushed the sport down their throats — it all came out of them, they wanted to be a part of this. That’s the best way.”
“It’s going to be very interesting to see her development over the next year. We were talking about this — if that really happens, I would love to create some history. Becoming the first father-and-son tag team champions in WWE with Dom, and then later feuding against each other — we had our differences. Now, with my daughter, it’s like, what can we do there? This is history.”
