Sami Zayn gets a match.
The former WWE Champion was the only one left without a SummerSlam match among the competitors of the Saturday Night’s Main Event tag team match, also involving Gunther, CM Punk and Cody Rhodes after the MSG show.
The Ultimate Underdog confronted Adam Pearce about the exclusion on this week’s episode of SmackDown, demanding to turn the WWE title match at the PPV into a triple threat.
While Pearce did not accept this course of action, he did give Sami a chance, announcing that he will compete in a #1 contender’s match for the WWE Championship at the PLE. Finn Balor then went on to earn the second spot in the match after defeating Royce Keys, Damian Priest and Trick Williams in the main event of the show.

Apart from this, a returning Nikki Bella helped Brie Bella and Paige fight off Fatal Influence during the night. She then confirmed a six-woman tag match for the event next weekend. Below is the updated card for SummerSlam 2026:
