WWE’s match order for SummerSlam Night 2 is starting to take shape. PWInsider reports that Sami Zayn vs. Finn Balor is currently planned to open tonight’s show, and the World Heavyweight Championship match between Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins remains the officially advertised closer.
Here’s what’s locked in on the bookends of Night 2 so far:
- Opener: Sami Zayn vs. Finn Balor (No. 1 Contender’s Match, Undisputed WWE Championship)
- Closer: Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins (WWE World Heavyweight Championship)
Zayn and Balor opening the show carries real weight given what’s on the line. The winner becomes the new No. 1 contender for whoever leaves Night 1 holding the Undisputed WWE Championship, meaning tonight’s first match effectively sets up WWE’s next world title program before the rest of the card even gets going.
Reigns and Rollins closing out the show has been the plan since the match was made official, with the two former Shield stablemates meeting one-on-one for the first time since the 2022 Royal Rumble. Rollins never dropped the title Reigns currently holds in a traditional match, and he has made clear he still considers it his.
The rest of Night 2’s six-match card is set, with Danhausen vs. Dominik Mysterio, Trick Williams defending the United States Championship against Baron Corbin, Penta defending the Intercontinental Championship against Chad Gable, and the five-way Interim WWE Women’s Championship Ladder Match all still to be placed in the lineup.
