The Young Bucks didn’t just wrestle at AEW Redemption. They helped put their match together.
Sunday’s pay-per-view in Montreal saw Matt and Nick Jackson beat Jon Moxley and Will Ospreay, advancing the road to All In on multiple fronts. In a new video on the Being The Elite YouTube channel documenting the night, Matt Jackson revealed that he and his brother were deeply involved in booking the bout.
We have a big match tonight against Will Ospreay & Jon Moxley. A lot of stuff on the line heading into All In. And I don’t like to, you know, give away too many secrets nowadays, but Nick and I were very hands-on and influential with this match happening. So there’s a lot of ownership here at stake personally for me.
The comment is a nod to the Bucks’ backstage roles as AEW executive vice presidents, and Matt made clear the personal investment raised the stakes for him.
I really want this to succeed — not that I don’t always want everything to succeed, but even more so today. So, big night tonight. I’m excited. And I just hope that we hit a home run.
The match fed directly into All In. Copeland & Cage retained the AEW World Tag Team Championship over Claudio Castagnoli and PAC later in the night, after which their title defense against the Young Bucks at Wembley was made official. For Matt and Nick, it’s a genuine dream match, and one that completes a personal milestone.
Just surreal that that’s finally going to happen. Now it’ll be official that we’ve wrestled every team from the TLC era. Always a dream match of ours to wrestle those guys.
Having already faced The Hardys and The Dudleys, the Bucks will complete the TLC-era set against Copeland and Cage. Elsewhere on the show, Kenny Omega retained the AEW World Championship over Kevin Knight in the main event, and the night closed with Ospreay finally splitting from Moxley and the Death Riders, only to be laid out by an Omega One-Winged Angel to set the table for their title clash at All In.
