Rhea Ripley’s Emotional Reaction to Judgment Day Breakup

0

Rhea Ripley has revealed that she was very emotional upon leaving the Judgment Day and she cried on the night of their breakup.

The Mami recently appeared on The Casual Conversations podcast. She talked about things such as working with Edge during the initial run of the group, competing in the WarGames match and more.

When asked what being part of the Judgment Day meant for her, the Eradicator revealed that it helped her finally feel fully comfortable in front of crowds because she had people to fall back on:

“The Judgment Day was really family to me. Like it really was. It has helped my career so much more than I could actually put into words. Cause I feel like that was when I started opening up and feeling comfortable going out there in front of the crowd cause I had the boys that I could fall back on. So it was really emotional for me.”

‘They Were My Family’: Rhea Ripley

Rhea Ripley joined the Judgment Day featuring Edge and Damian Priest at WrestleMania: Backlash in 2022. The group went through many changes over the next couple of years. They kicked Edge out of it while adding members such as ‘Dirty’ Dominik Mysterio and JD McDonagh.

Ripley was finally expelled from the faction herself when Dominik Mysterio turned on her and aligned with Liv Morgan instead at SumerSlam 2024. Damian Priest was also kicked out of the group by Finn Balor on the same night. This marked the end of a chapter for the Judgment Day as all founding members left the faction.

The former Women’s Champion mentioned how there were reports about a member crying backstage after that show. She is not ashamed to admit it was her:

“I saw something come out about Judgment Day members, a specific one crying backstage after everything. I’m not ashamed of it. That was me. I was upset. Like the last two and a half years of my life is gonna be…like it’s changed now. I can’t go back to that. They were my boys; they were my family. It was really sad.”

The female star is taking a positive approach to the situation, however, and she believes that when one good thing ends, something amazing starts from it. She claimed that she is now loving her time absolutely brutalizing the group which she characterizes as ‘Street Trash.’

Eric Bischoff Believes This Name Deserves More Credit For Success of DX

0

Eric Bischoff believes there is one member of the D-Generation X who gets less credit for the success of the group than he deserves.

While talking to Inside The Ropes‘ Kenny McIntosh, The former WCW President discussed DX’s invasion of WCW on April 27, 1998 when both Raw and Nitro were held miles apart in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia.

During the session, Bischoff claimed that Sean Waltman, known as X-Pac at the time deserves more credit for making the whole thing believable:

“This guy gets very little credit for the success of DX. A lot of people take credit for shit they don’t deserve to get credit for, right? One of the guys who really helped make DX believable and feel real was Sean Waltman, X-Pac. Cause I fired him—he was a part of nWo.”

He Brought That Edge: Eric Bischoff

Triple H ejected Shawn Michaels from DX after he lost to Stone Cold Steve Austin at WrestleMania XIV. The Game then assumed full control of the group and recruited Sean Waltman as well as the New Age Outlaws into the faction. This came months after Waltman was fired by Eric Bischoff via FedEx while he was on shelf with a neck injury.

The former WCW official claimed that they had developed an edgy character for the former Cruiserweight Champion which he ended up using against them:

“He had that personality, he brought that edge, he brought that character, that sense of ‘screw it, I’ll do whatever it takes.’ He brought that character that we created, and he was very instrumental in by the way, and supportive of. But when I fired him—and I did—he took that same character with him, and he was a part of DX. He used that same creative psychology to fire back at us.”

DX remained together until Triple H and Chyna turned on X-Pac and joined the Corporation at WrestleMania XV. While Waltman and the Outlaws continued using the name even after this, the turn is considered the end of DX’s first run by many as all original members of the group had left the faction.

Bronson Reed Fined “Massive” Amount For Launching Fan on WWE Raw

0

History was made on this week’s WWE Raw during the Super Heavyweight clash between “Big” Bronson Reed and Braun Strowman. As soon as Raw General Manager Adam Pearce announced this clash, fans knew they were in for a wild ride. However, nobody could have predicted what unfolded.

During their match, Reed etched his place in WWE highlight reels for years to come when he plucked an unsuspecting fan from the audience and launched him at Strowman:

The surreal moment left viewers stunned and quickly went viral on social media. That’s great for creating buzz, but you can’t just go around throwing people. Attacking an innocent audience member is conduct unbecoming of a WWE Superstar, regardless of the circumstances.

Who Was The Fan?

The WWE fan who got launched by Bronson Reed on Raw has been identified by The Local Competitor (@LocalCompWWE) as independent wrestler Nessy Henrdicks.

Nessy Henrix (@Instntclssic) appeared as an extra on WWE television earlier this year. On the February 25 episode of WWE Raw, Hendrix was hired by Paul Heyman as one of his security guards. Things did not go well for Mr. Hendrix that night either.

The Punishment

Adam Pearce agrees with this assessment and wasted no time addressing the incident. In a decisive move, Pearce levied a “massive undisclosed fine” on Bronson Reed.Furthermore and notwithstanding, both Reed and Strowman will also have to pay up for the destruction they caused during their match.

Bronson Reed has demonstrated that he can hold is own against Braun Strowman. However, it takes a lot more than in-ring tenacity to become a WWE Champion and headline WrestleMania, as Strowman has. Reed has the size and agility to continue climbing the ranks, but this fan-throwing incident shows that he still needs to improve the often-overlooked mental aspect of this sport.

Greatest WCW Wrestlers of All Time (Ranked)

0

World Championship Wrestling (WCW) was a major force in professional wrestling from 1988 to 2001, rivaling WWE and producing some of the most iconic moments in wrestling history. During its run, WCW showcased an incredible array of talent that helped define the late 80s and Monday Night Wars eras. Let’s take a look at the greatest WCW wrestlers of all time, ranked from 12 down to 1 based on their impact, skill, and legacy within the company.

11. Scott Steiner

Scott Steiner’s transformation from one half of the Steiner Brothers tag team to the “Big Poppa Pump” persona is one of wrestling’s most dramatic character evolutions.

His freakish strength, intimidating presence, and outrageous promos made him one of WCW’s most memorable heel champions in its final years.

10. “Macho Man” Randy Savage

Randy Savage’s run in WCW saw him reinvent himself multiple times, from his initial feud with Ric Flair to his nWo Hollywood days. Savage captured the WCW World Heavyweight Championship four times and remained a top draw throughout his tenure.

His ability to deliver compelling promos and matches made him an integral part of WCW’s success.

9. Dean Malenko

“The Man of 1,000 Holds,” Dean Malenko was a cornerstone of WCW’s cruiserweight division. His technical prowess and no-nonsense demeanor provided a perfect contrast to the flashier styles of his contemporaries.

Malenko’s series of matches with Rey Mysterio Jr. and Chris Jericho are still revered by wrestling purists.

8. Eddie Guerrero

Eddie Guerrero’s charisma and in-ring ability made him a star in WCW’s cruiserweight division.

His matches with Rey Mysterio Jr. set a new standard for high-flying action. Guerrero’s ability to connect with the audience, both as a face and heel, showcased his versatility and laid the groundwork for his future WWE success.

7. Chris Benoit

Known as “The Canadian Crippler,” Chris Benoit was the epitome of technical wrestling excellence in WCW.

His intensity and grappling skills made him a standout in the cruiserweight division before he ascended to main event status. Benoit’s matches with Kevin Sullivan, Booker T, and his fellow Horsemen are considered some of the best in WCW history.

6. Booker T

Rising through the tag team ranks with his brother Stevie Ray as Harlem Heat, Booker T evolved into a singles superstar in WCW’s later years.

A five-time WCW World Heavyweight Champion, Booker’s charisma and in-ring skills made him one of the company’s last great babyfaces. His memorable catchphrases and spin-a-roonie became fan favorites.

5. Diamond Dallas Page

DDP’s journey from manager to main event star is one of WCW’s greatest success stories. His everyman appeal and signature Diamond Cutter finisher made him a fan favorite.

Page’s feuds with Randy Savage, Sting, and the nWo showcased his versatility and cemented his place as one of WCW’s homegrown stars.

4. Hulk Hogan

While Hulk Hogan made his name in WWE, his impact on WCW cannot be overstated. Hogan’s arrival in 1994 brought mainstream attention to the company, and his shocking heel turn to form the nWo in 1996 changed the wrestling landscape forever.

As Hollywood Hogan, he became WCW’s top villain and a central figure in the Monday Night Wars.

3. Goldberg

Few wrestlers have made as immediate and lasting an impact as Goldberg. His undefeated streak of 173-0 captivated audiences and made him one of WCW’s biggest draws.

Goldberg’s intensity, power, and no-nonsense approach created a phenomenon that rivaled even Steve Austin in popularity at points.

2. Sting

The face-painted warrior known as Sting was WCW’s franchise player throughout its existence. From his early days as a bleach-blonde surfer to his dark, brooding “Crow” persona, Sting remained a fan favorite and a symbol of WCW’s resistance against the nWo invasion. His epic encounters with Ric Flair and Hollywood Hogan are among the most memorable in the company’s history.

The “Nature Boy” Ric Flair stands atop the mountain as the greatest WCW wrestler of all time. A 16-time world champion, Flair’s charisma, in-ring prowess, and leadership of the Four Horsemen made him the face of WCW for over a decade. His legendary feuds with Sting, Ricky Steamboat, and Vader are etched in wrestling history.

Artem Chigvintsev Seeks Joint Custody Of Son in Split with Nikki Garcia

0

On August 29, Artem Chigvintsev was arrested on charges of domestic battery of a spouse and was later released on bail. In 2020, he and WWE Hall of Famer Nikki Garcia welcomed their son Matteo into the world, and now both parents have filed for what they believe is an appropriate level of custody.

Chigvintsev, best known for his role on Dancing With The Stars, has filed for joint custody of Matteo, according to court documents obtained by PEOPLE. He is also requesting spousal support and for Garcia to cover his attorney’s fees and costs. Chigvintsev made a 9-1-1 call on the day of his arrest, requesting medical assistance, though later called to say it was no longer needed.

Garcia on the other hand, has filed for sole legal and physical custody of Matteo, while allowing visitation rights for Chigvintsev. She has also requested that the court terminate spousal support for both parties. Garcia, who competed for WWE as Nikki Bella, was reportedly encouraged to end her marriage to Chigvintsev by her sister Brie after the alleged violence.

The former WWE Divas Champion officially filed for divorce on Wednesday, September 11, with both sides citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split. Both have also cited Thursday, August 29, as the date of separation, which coincides with Chigvintsev’s arrest.

The couple met in 2017 on Dancing with the Stars while Garcia was engaged to John Cena, though their relationship would end in early 2018. Garcia would reconnect with Chgvintsev after this and the couple announced their engagement in late 2019.

After becoming parents to Matteo in July 2020, the couple got married in a private Parisian ceremony in August 2022, though Garcia’s filing gives the date as January 19, 2023. The couple had celebrated their second wedding anniversary mere days before Chigvintsev’s arrest.

Megan Thee Stallion Agreed To Mercedes Moné Collab Before WWE SmackDown Song

0

Ahead of SmackDown’s return to the USA Network, WWE confirmed that Neva Play, a track by Megan Thee Stallion featuring RM of BTS will serve as the blue brand’s new theme song. Getting the award-winning artist on board is a huge score for WWE, especially as she was reportedly set to work with WWE’s chief rival not too long ago.

Megan Thee Stallion had agreed to collaborate with AEW TBS Champion Mercedes Moné, PW Insider reports, before she agreed for her track to become the official theme song of WWE SmackDown. Negotiations took place between Megan’s manager, Mike B of Roc Nation, and Mercedes’ manager, Keven Undergaro, about a collaboration.

The two met in February at the Crunchyroll Anime Awards in Japan where both women presented awards. Moné hinted at a collaboration with the award-winning artist in the run-up to AEW’s recent All In: London 2024 pay-per-view.

Megan Thee Stallion In Wrestling

SmackDown’s new theme song marks Megan Thee Stallion’s official arrival in the world of wrestling, but she has teased involvement in the past. In March of this year, ex-WWE Superstar Mojo Rawley claimed that WWE had planned for Moné (Sasha Banks at the time) to face Megan at a SummerSlam PLE but that never occurred.

Following her song becoming the official theme of SmackDown, Megan teased making her official debut for the promotion. Stay tuned to SEScoops for all the latest on Megan Thee Stallion’s possible involvement with WWE now her song will be heard every Friday night.

Jey Uso Teases ‘More Surprises’ For Bloodline Story

0

Jey Uso has teased that The Bloodline story may be going in a different direction than fans are expecting after the return of Roman Reigns to WWE programming.

Solo Sikoa has taken over the role of The Tribal Chief after Reigns’ WrestleMania 40 loss to Cody Rhodes. He has since introduced a number of new members of the esteemed Anoa’i family to WWE programming.

Fans have been expecting to see Roman reuniting the old Bloodline with The Usos and Sami Zayn to take on this new threat after his return at SummerSlam.

Jey Uso was asked about the progression of the story and where he fits into it during an interview with Metro. He claimed that he doesn’t know what the plans are:

“I’m looking forward to the Bloodline storyline as much as you all are, because I’ll be honest, I don’t know what we’re going to do, I don’t know what’s going to happen.”

We Have Other Family Members: Jey Uso

Defying the expectations, Roman Reigns so far has made no attempts to reconcile with his old partners. He has instead found an unlikely ally in Cody Rhodes for the Bad Blood match against Solo and Jacob Fatu.

In the wake of the Survivor Series: WarGames event set for November 30; many are expecting to see him back on screen with his former allies soon.

The Yeet Man however is not sure if it will be natural for him to go back in light of the progression he has made as a singles star. He instead believes that the Original Tribal Chief could find the help he needs from other members of the family:

“I don’t know how we how they’re going to intertwine me back in there… Sami would be my first pick, right? It only makes sense. Hey, we might have other family members, more surprises, man!”

Roman Reigns leading a completely new group of Anoa’i family members is certainly a proposition that fits with the booking philosophy of focusing on new stars that WWE has adapted since Triple H took over as a booker.

There is no shortage of potential soldiers he can find in his family and names such as Zilla Fatu and Thamiko Fatu have already captured people’s eyes as potential future stars for the promotion.

AEW-WBD TV Deal Reported To Be In ‘Ballpark of $170 Million’

0

AEW’s new TV deals are expected to be announced any day now and if latest reported numbers are to be believed, it will mark a clear success for the company.

John Ourand of Puck News recently provided some inside information on the negotiations between the wrestling company and its TV partners, once again noting that the package is close to being finalized.

According to him, it’s expected to be a four-year deal with three guaranteed years and WBD having the option to extend the contract by another year. The number of $170 million a year that’s been floated is ‘apparently in the ballpark’ according to Ourand.

The deal with see AEW shows airing on TNT, TBS, and TruTV twice a week. It’s part of a strategy from WBD CEO David Zaslav to make the latter two networks more valuable and sport-oriented. This comes after WBD lost the NBA media rights bid to Amazon.

The report makes no mention of the highly anticipated Max streaming deal but they note that AEW is also pitching another separate package to broadcast channels. Though there is no timetable for when the company will start pushing that deal.

This is in reference to the company trademarking ‘AEW: Shockwave’ for a new entertainment show which is rumored to be airing on Fox after SmackDown left the network to return to USA.

The current AEW TV deals are believed to be somewhere in the neighborhood of $70 million per year so if true, the new numbers would be a huge success for Tony Khan’s promotion.

QR Code On (9/16) WWE Raw: When You Need Us, We Will Be There

0

Ahead of the debut of the Wyatt Sicks, a series of QR codes appeared on WWE programming, teasing the group’s arrival. On this week’s Raw, a QR code was spotted which may have given an indication as to the group’s future on the red brand.

Scanning the QR code takes fans to a website filled with diary entries from Uncle Howdy. The latest entry, titled ‘Frater’ (Latin for brother) has the following message.

The bond of a family is a cat of nine tails. Bound through suffering. We see you, brother. When you need us, we will be there.

This website first appeared in June of this year and had fans trying to decipher its cryptic messages. One entry titled SHE has led fans to believe that another woman will be added to the faction, possibly Alexa Bliss, though that hasn’t happened yet.

The website has the word ‘Kintsugi’ as its heading, which refers to the Japanese art of using gold to repair a broken bowl. The idea is that something is more beautiful because it is broken. Clicking on the word takes fans to an image of hand-drawn pictures, including trees, an eerie face, and the red circle.

Clicking on the mute button on the website brings up the following image, which has the code L 10: 25 37. In the Gospel according to Luke, this passage tells the story of the Good Samaritan.

image 18

The name of this file also gives a tease of what may to be come in the future of The Wyatt Sicks. This image is titled ‘arbun’ which is an anagram of Braun. Braun Strowman was introduced on WWE TV as part of the Wyatt Family in 2020 but rejected an offer to return to Wyatt’s side in 2020. After the group debuted, Strowman said he feels the pull of the faction, but has so far kept his distance from the group on TV.

The Wyatt Sicks has been a force to be reckoned with so far, and now the group has vowed to ‘be there’ when ‘you’ need them. Stay tuned to SEScoops for all the latest on the Wyatt Sicks as they continue to tease what’s to come.

Photos of Randy Orton and Wife Kim’s Romantic Belize Getaway

0

Randy Orton is known as one of the most cold and calculated competitors in WWE history, but his wife Kim is giving us a look at a different side of him.

Kim Orton took to Instagram (@Kim.orton01) on Monday to share glimpses of their romantic tropical vacation in Belize. The series of photos include the caption, “Getting some much needed alone time with my love @randyorton #vacation #Belize” and show a side of “The Viper” that many WWE fans haven’t seen. The 15-time world champ has committed heinous acts over the past 22 years. However, these vacation snapshots provide a refreshing contrast, offering a unique look at his life outside the squared circle.

The photos shared by Kim Orton show the couple standing in front of a helicopter, smiling and enjoying a scenic helicopter ride. One particularly sweet moment features a bed decorated with leaves spelling out “RKO” and “KIM,” adding a romantic touch to their getaway.

Orton was in action this past week on WWE SmackDown, appearing as Kevin Owens’ mystery partner against A-Town Down Under.

Regarding retirement, Randy Orton has not specified an exact timeline for when he plans to hang it up. However, he has indicated in various interviews that he hopes to continue wrestling as long as he’s physically able.

Watch below to learn how Randy Orton met his wife Kim:

Logan Paul, MrBeast, and KSI Launch ‘Lunchly’ to Rival Lunchables

0

Some WWE fans love him and some loathe him, but Logan Paul has proven himself to be a serial entrepreneur, with a series of business projects to the Maverick’s name. Now, Paul and his PRIME Hydration co-founder KSI are teaming up with YouTuber Mr. Beast to launch Lunchly, a new brand lunches for children.

‘Lunchly’ products will include PRIME Hydration as well as sweet treats from Feastables, Mr. Beast’s brand of candy. The first batch of Lunches items will include Pizza, Fiesta Nachos, and Turkey Stack ‘Ems.

The product is aimed as a direct competitor to Lunchables, with the Lunchly website featuring an entire “Us vs Them” section. The shade is palpable as Lunchly runs down how they stack up against the ‘leading brand’ –

  • Flavorful Combos: Lunchly offers more flavorful combos, while the leading brand sticks to standard picks.
  • Electrolytes: Each Lunchly pack contains 400 mg of electrolytes compared to only 55 mg in the comparable product from the leading brand.
  • Packaging: Lunchly uses bold packaging, whereas the leading brand has basic packaging.
  • Gestures: Lunchly provides “big gestures,” while the leading brand offers only “mid moments.”

The collaboration of Paul, KSI, and Mr. Beast brings together three of the most popular, and marketable content creators currently working online. The pair collectively have 362 million YouTube subscribers, and over 100 million followers on Instagram, with Mr. Beast making up the majority in both metrics.

Paul has already been able to secure PRIME Hydration as the official beverage sponsor of WWE events, and fans can expect the longest-reigning U.S. Champion of the past decade to do plenty to make Lunchly a viral success.

Trish Stratus and Lita Tease Big Plans for 20th Anniversary of Iconic Raw Match

0

On the December 6, 2004, edition of WWE Raw, Trish Stratus and Lita competed for the Women’s Championship in a match unlike any women’s match before then. Not only did the pair headline the show, a fact many men on the roster took issue with, but the two women were given ample time to show off their skills in the ring.

The match, which saw Lita win the gold, came at a time when women’s wrestling in WWE was nowhere close to being treated as seriously as its male counterpart. Nevertheless, the match is regarded as one of WWE’s best women’s matches and secured the #55 spot on WWE’s Top 100 Moments In Raw History DVD. In hindsight, it should have been ranked a lot higher than that.

This December will mark 20 years since the iconic match, a fact not lost on Trish Stratus or Lita. Appearing together at Comic Con Northern Ireland over the weekend, Stratus teased something big to mark the anniversary.

“We are definitely coming up on the 20th anniversary of a certain match. Can anyone remember what it is? It’s our main event match, and it’s still talked about to this day.

So, we want to do something special and really reflect on its importance and how it helped us get to where we are today. That’s our goal—we’re masterminding something right now. Look for something special from Team Bestie to celebrate this very momentous occasion.”

Paving the Road

Nearly two decades ago, the idea of women headlining WWE events was unimaginable. However, trailblazers like Trish Stratus and Lita shattered this glass ceiling and paved the way for future generations of female wrestlers:

October 2016: Charlotte Flair and Sasha Banks made history as the first women’s match to headline a WWE pay-per-view, and it took place inside Hell in a Cell of all places.

October 2018: The all-women’s pay-per-view, Evolution, closed with Ronda Rousey defending the Raw Women’s Championship against Nikki Bella.

April 2019: Less than a later, history was made once again at WrestleMania 35 when Ronda Rousey, Charlotte Flair, and Becky Lynch headlined the event in a triple threat match, with Lynch closing the show raising both the Raw and SmackDown Women’s Championships.

Stay tuned to SEScoops for the latest on whatever Trish Stratus and Lita have cooking for the 20th Anniversary of their iconic WWE Raw main event.

Lita Believes Time Has Come For Gender Neutral Wrestling Championships

0

WWE Hall of Famer Lita believes women’s wrestling has progressed enough where we can retire gender-specific championships and have titles which represent everyone.

The Attitude Era star was joined by fellow women’s wrestling legend Trish Stratus for a panel at the Northern Ireland Comic-Con by Monopoly Events.

During the session, the duo was asked what changes they would make to the women’s division if they were booking it. Trish Stratus mentioned how the quality of wrestling among female competitors has improved significantly in the last few years but she explained that it has come at the cost of character work:

“I think I would like to have a little bit more focus on characters, right? I feel like, for sure, now there’s way more opportunities for women. Obviously, we see them main eventing all the time, and we see them in high-profile matches. But I think what we had back in the day was a lot more character stuff.

You got to know these characters, and the fans could really resonate with the character a little bit more. Now they’re just kind of having these great matches, but there’s no backstory as much as there was back in the day. So, I think character development would be one thing I’d like to focus on.”

Lita Wants To See More Intergender Interactions

Lita then chimed in talking about how women are getting more representation on shows now. The thing she would change, however, is increase the interaction between male and female competitors. The former champion even suggested the idea of gender-neutral titles to achieve this:

“What I would love to see is more interplay between the genders and have those lines be blurred further, where titles don’t have to be men’s or women’s titles, just titles, and whoever manages to get somebody’s shoulders down for three seconds is the champion, or whoever taps somebody out is the champion for that night.”

WWE has played with the idea of intergender wrestling on occasion but never fully committed to it. Chyna winning the Intercontinental Championship was the biggest example of it. She defended the championship against many male competitors during her run. The title went back to being exclusive to the men’s division afterward.

In more recent years we have seen Beth Pheonix wrestling Santino Marella and the brief interaction between Dean Ambrose and Nia Jax before the former left the company.

The storyline between Dominik Mysterio and Rhea Ripley is the closest we have come to seeing intergender wrestling matches under Triple H. It’s possible that this story may lead to a revision of the past somewhere down the line.

RVD Praises WWE’s ‘Refreshing’ New Vibe After SmackDown Visit

0

Rob Van Dam had a busy Friday as the WWE Hall Of Famer made his return to SmackDown, and Mr. Monday Night noticed a very different vibe to Triple H’s new regime.

RVD and his wife Katie Forbes were invited as guests for the first SmackDown on USA Network. The power couple were seen sitting ringside for Kevin Owens & Randy Orton vs. Austin Theory & Grayson Waller and Van Dam was impressed with what he saw.

Speaking to me on a yet-to-be-released episode of his ‘1 Of A Kind With RVD’ podcast, the Hall of Famer shared his view of how different WWE is these days, both in the ring and backstage in the locker room.

“It was in a way that’s refreshing to make me realize how out of touch with the product I am because I didn’t realize that a lot of the things people have been telling me are in effect.”

Rob says in just watching the one match in some ways WWE seems to be aiming at bringing the wrestling product back to more storytelling and simplifying the exhibition of the in-ring action. Van Dam also loved the new SmackDown logo.

“I love creative s*** like that.”

Backstage Interactions With Triple H & The Modern Roster

Rob Van Dam had a brief interaction with Kevin Owens backstage after his match with a fist bump, hung with Booker T, Ron Simmons and Teddy Long in the legends dressing room. He also did some interviews on behalf of WWE for future projects. He also did get to chat with Triple H.

“He was really cool, in a good mood and I got good vibes off him as well.”

Van Dam did hear Triple H talk during a meeting about how the touring schedule would change and it reminded him of how daunting the old WWE schedule used to be.

A lot of the modern roster approached him to thank him for being there and saying how they enjoy his podcast too. RVD noted even a talent appreciated the knowledge they get from listening to Mr. Monday Night.

“Just getting feedback from social media or whatever, not only is it toxic, but it’s also deceiving because they were there to have fun. It was so obvious, again I’m gonna use the word refreshing, it was so refreshing.”

RVD said the fans were completely along for the ride and that was a big strong takeaway from the crowd.

“I get it, it’s a very fun vibe.”

Rob also made mention that he found entire WWE dressing room to be positive. No one was tired or exhausted as he remembered when he was full time and everyone looked very happy to be involved in the growth of the company.

New episodes of “1 Of A Kind With RVD” releases every Monday at 4:20 PM ET. Please h/t to SEScoops for the transcription.

Lashley, MVP and Shelton Benjamin could soon reunite in AEW. They could get back together as The Hurt Syndicate, judging by a trademark filing last month. A trademark filing was recently made for the term The Hurt Syndicate for use in pro wrestling and entertainment services.

Totally Harmless Concept LLC filed to trademark “The Hurt Syndicate” a few weeks ago following the filing for trademarks on other MVP-related phrases and names.

Lashley’s New Vlog

Lashley launched a new series called ‘Phenoms to Legends.’ The former WWE star revealed that during his WWE tenure, he used an RV to travel between shows. Now, he is planning to travel around the country in his RV and meet talented young athletes. The brand new series will also give them the chance to share their stories.

Charlotte Flair Injury Update 8 Months After Knee Surgery

0

Multi-time WWE Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair is not expected to return just yet. “The Queen” has been on the shelf as she is recuperating from a significant knee injury including tears to her ACL, MCL, and meniscus which she suffered last year. The 14-time Women’s Champion has been doing her best to make her comeback to the ring.

Fightful Select has reported that there were reports of creative plans involving Charlotte Flair moving forward, specifically involvement with WWE Women’s Champion Nia Jax and Ms. Money In The Bank Tiffany Stratton. However, WWE sources indicste she is not cleared yet. There is a belief that there will still be some time before she returns to the ring as the injuries that she sustained last year were severe.

Charlotte underwent major knee surgery in January. She’s been documenting her training on social media, which has given people a sense of optimism. She posted this video approximately six weeks ago, accompanied by a quote from the movie Any Given Sunday (1999) that shares her mentality as she powers through this latest advertsity.

‘The Queen’ is quite active on her social media and often shares some footage of her in-ring training including running the ropes and doing a series of rolls.

On the other hand, Charlotte Flair will be a part of an upcoming indie horror/thriller movie, You Lose You Die. Previously, Flair worked outside WWE. Her movie debut took place when she starred as Heather Rockrear in Psych: The Movie in 2017. It is a spin-off of the popular show about fake psychic investigator. Flair has also starred as herself in the remake of Punky Brewster with fellow WWE wrestler Alexa Bliss.

Despite her absence, Charlotte Flair has kept her eye on the shows and recently made it clear that she wants to share the ring with the NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez.

Dirty Dom: Looking Back At Dominik Mysterio’s Most Dastardly Deeds

0

In 2005, the WWE Universe was introduced to Dominik, a sweet kid caught up in the deeply personal rivalry of Rey Mysterio and Eddie Guerrero. Nobody at the time could’ve predicted that this sweet-faced boy would one day become one of WWE’s most loathed villains who elicits boos without having to say a word.

Dominik Mysterio is one of WWE’s top heels for a reason and in this article, we’re looking back at some of his most vile moments.

Crashing Thanksgiving

After betraying his father at Clash At The Castle 2022, Dominik and Rhea Ripley made clear their issues with Rey wouldn’t remain in the ring. For Thanksgiving that year, Dominik not only interrupted the family’s mean (to which he was not invited) but attacked his father in his own home.

Telling His Mom to Shut Up

With Dominik hating his father, his mother Angie tried to be the voice of reason in this family drama. On an episode of SmackDown, Dominik yelled at his mom to shut up, in a disgusting display from the self-professed hardened criminal.

Walking Out On His Father’s Hall of Fame Speech

In 2023, Rey Mysterio took his rightful place in the WWE Hall of Fame after a legendary in-ring career. Before the masked legend could begin his acceptance speech in earnest though, Dominik walked out, flanked by Rhea Ripley and Damian Priest.

Throwing a Drink in his Sister’s Face

Just one night after the Hall of Fame, Dominik proved that his issues weren’t just with his father, but his entire family. During his WrestleMania 39 match with Rey, Dominik threw his sister Aalyah’s drink in her face, earning the fury of his sister and their mom.

Betraying Rhea Ripley

In the run-up to SummerSlam 2024, Dominik had seemingly made clear that he was aligned with Rhea Ripley in her feud with Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan. At the PLE in Cleveland though, Mysterio aided Morgan in her match with ‘Mami’ ending a nearly-two-year partnership between Mysterio and the Australian Superstar.

Dominik Mysterio’s villainy seemingly knows no depths and he will be by Morgan’s side when she defends her gold once again against Rhea Ripley at WWE Bad Blood. Stay tuned to SEScoops for the latest on Dominik Mysterio and the depths he’ll sink to.

Grayson Waller To Compete Outside WWE Next Month In Australia

0

In 2024, WWE has collaborated with several promotions, in stark contrast to how the company did business under the watchful eye of Vince McMahon. Now, Grayson Waller is set to compete outside the promotion in what will prove to be a homecoming for the self-professed Aussie Icon.

Grayson will be a part of PWA Black Label’s Grand Final event, a two-day spectacle that’ll kick off on October 12, at the Metro Theatre in Sydney, Australia. Waller will take on Jimmy Townsend, somebody who Waller is very familiar with. In a video shared by PWA Black Label, Waller recalled taking Townsend under his wing before making clear that he’ll hold nothing back when they face off.

Waller joined PWA in 2017 under the name Matty Wahlberg and would remain with the promotion until signing with WWE in early 2021. In singles competition, Waller and Townsend have faced just once before in a PWA ring in a January 2021 showdown won by the future WWE Superstar.

WWE’s Collaboration

PWA Black Label is just the latest company to benefit from WWE’s newfound willingness to work with others. Currently, TNA Wrestling has worked with WWE NXT in a partnership that has seen talent appear on both sides. Several NXT Superstars are planned for upcoming TNA events while Zachary Wentz will be part of NXT’s debut on The CW.

Pro Wrestling NOAH and Marigold Wrestling have also seen WWE talent appear for their respective shows with AJ Styles and IYO SKY stepping through the ‘prohibited portal’ over the summer. Stay tuned to SEScoops for all the latest on WWE and its continued efforts to work with other wrestling promotions.

Kurt Angle Names AEW Star He Is A Fan Of

0

Kurt Angle is a fan of Kenny Omega and he believes that even though high spots wrestling is popular right now the time for more technical matches will return.

The Hall of Famer recently took part in K & S WrestleFest virtual signing. He discussed things such as the progression of Roman Reigns, and praised a number of WWE talents like Gunther and Seth Rollins.

Amid all the WWE talk, Angle was asked if there is anyone from AEW who he likes and the wrestling veteran unsurprisingly named Kenny Omega. Kurt noted that the Best Bout Machine can have a good match with just about anybody:

“I love Kenny Omega. I think he’s a great talent. He can have a 5-star match with just about anybody. Kid’s really well-versed. I didn’t know about the injuries but man I saw the one match with him and the kid from the UK [Will Ospreay]. That was a match to remember. They lit it up that night.”

The Business Evolved: Kurt Angle

When asked about the difference in style between him and Omega as well as the inclusion of more high-flying spots in today’s wrestling, Kurt Angle explained that it’s the evolution of the sport. Though he claimed that there is always room for more technical stuff and hoped that it will become the norm again someday:

“What you’re getting today is you’re getting a lot better athletes. That are doing more dangerous stunts, more stunt work than really wrestling and working in the ring. But I think that’s because the business evolved. People like to see high-action wrestling matches.

When I wrestled Chris Benoit and Eddie Guerrero it was all technique. It was technical matches. We didn’t do a lot of crazy stuff. I think there is always room for that. I think it will eventually come back again as it has in the past.”

Apart from this, Kurt Angle praised Chad Gable for the work he has been doing the last few months. The Olympic Gold Medalist also said that he would be open to managing American Made if WWE offered him the right deal.

Kevin Nash Reacts To Second Alleged Donald Trump Assassination Attempt In Span of Weeks

0

Hall of Famer Kevin Nash has reacted to the second alleged assassination attempt on former United States President Donald Trump.

FBI on Sunday revealed that they were investigating ‘what appears to be an attempted assassination’ of Donald Trump at his golf club in West Palm Beach, Florida.

This came after the US Secret Service fired at a man pointing a rifle at the club. The person dropped the rifle and fled in an SUV. He was later arrested by officials.

The former WWE star took to Twitter after the news of the incident spread. He implored the businessman-turned-politician to protect himself by avoiding open-air events:

The arrested suspect has been identified as 58-year-old Ryan Wesley Routh. New York Times revealed that Routh is a former roofing contractor from Greensboro, N.C.

Donald Trump Assassination Attempt

This incident comes only weeks after Trump’s ear was grazed by a bullet in an assassination attempt while the former President was addressing a campaign rally in Butler Township, Pennsylvania on July 13, 2024.

Donald Trump served as the 45th president of the United States from 2017 to 2021. He ran for office again in 2021 but lost to Democratic Party candidate Joe Biden.

Biden suspended his re-election campaign in July this year and endorsed Kamala Harris for president who will once again be running against the US businessman.

Trump has made many WWE appearances over the years most famously participating in the Battle of the Billionaires storyline against Vince McMahon which led to the WrestleMania 23 match between Bobby Lashley and Umaga.

CM Punk Calls Out Airport Collectors For Their Atrocious Conduct

0

CM Punk is the latest wrestling superstar to call out airport collectors after an apparent unpleasant experience of his own.

The Straight Edge Star put up an Instagram story calling out people who continue following talents despite being told off. He mentioned that airports are not meet & greets and asked people to stop using children as their excuse to continue harassing wrestlers:

cm punk story

“Hey guys, Love y’all, but friendly reminder to respect privacy and boundaries. Airports are not a meet and greet. If I have to ask you to please stop following me multiple times you have crossed a line. Please stop this. Thank you. (And stop using your children as a shield or an excuse.)”

CM Punk joins the long list of talents that have been forced to speak up due to the continuous harassment from the so-called fans. Talents such as Rhea Ripley, Dominik Mysterio, and Kris Statlander have all called out airport scrappers to no avail.

The wrestling community also spoke up against the atrocious conduct of such people after a video of Asuka being swarmed by the pseudo-collectors at the airport went viral earlier this year.

Seth Rollins too had talked about people using children for such acts during an interview last year. Though he had taken a positive approach saying that such cases were exception and people shouldn’t lose their faith in humanity because of it.

CM Punk is currently involved in an intense rivalry with Drew McIntyre where both stars have picked up one victory over each other. The two wrestling veterans are set to meet for one final time in a Hell In A Cell match at the upcoming Bad Blood PPV event.

Make No Mistake, Nigel McGuinness Is In It To Win It All

0

I first met Nigel McGuinness in 2001 at Les Thatcher’s Main Event Wrestling Camp. He was kind enough to give me an interview shortly before a weekday Heartland Wrestling Association show.

I was one of maybe 10 people in the crowd. The camp recently changed locations and Nigel recently returned to the United States. When ABC’s 20/20 recorded a segment on professional wrestling, they came to Thatcher’s camp. Nigel was featured in one portion of the segment, telling his story how he was now on his second VISA, working to resume training and looking for his shot, which at the time was his end-all, be-all goal of working for World Wrestling Entertainment and winning the world title.

McGuinness was a prototypical athlete, but in 2001, he wasn’t a prototypical pro wrestler. He was tall, but he didn’t have the bodybuilder look of most talent of the time. He was too tall and too big to be one of nameless spot specialists, the type of wrestlers who watched WCW’s Cruiserweight division and cut out all of the wrestling and psychology.

When Nigel returned to the states, the wrestling industry had been cut to a third. ECW was out of business, WCW was out of business and WWE was the only major company. HWA, which previously was a developmental territory for WCW, would soon have a developmental deal with WWE. Nigel didn’t get a developmental contract himself (much to the chagrin of Thatcher, and from what I heard, other WWE developmental mainstays like Jim Cornette and Tom Pirtchard).

Even though the HWA was soon invaded by former WCW wrestlers and WWE developmental stars-in-the-waiting, they didn’t wrestle as well as the HWA talent, paying their dues and tuition. When developmental talent arrived, HWA was already drawing hundreds to shows, wrestling in three different states and put on matches that were making news across the burgeoning online wrestling scene.

But professional wrestling is not always about being better. Somestimes, it’s seldom about being better.

I watched Nigel wrestle dozens of times. During any other era he was a sure star in the making on personality alone, but during the early days of the monopoly, it was almost impossible to see where he would fit into the picture. For him to make it, a total re-invention of the business would have to take place. Physicality, psychology, promos, natural charisma – those were the tools he had in his toolbox, but he didn’t fit the mold. And as my own extremely inexperienced outlook would learn many times over the years, those who don’t fit the mold tend to be the wrestlers who are the most special.

Roll On

McGuinness had this strange ability of finding a way to be the most over person on any card. If it was a new town or audience, give him two shows and people paid good money to listen to his rants at the crowd or see him take his shots. His natural heel personality, the punk rock, blue collar look, and the instantly recognizable entrance music by The Living End, made it easy to know when he was coming.

I have several favorite Nigel stories. One, at first, was quite distressing. I was told privately that his green card had ran out and he was sleeping on Shark Boy’s floor while trying to stay in the country (the veracity of this, I believed at the time. Later, not so much. Wrestlers love working reporters). A week later, I wake to emails and voice mails saying Nigel had been arrested and hauled out of an HWA show by men in ICE jackets and tossed in a van. Nobody knew where he was. Fans told me they saw this. What in the hell.

A few weeks later, a valet who accompanied her storyline brother to the ring on a regular basis had an announcement that she was engaged. Her brother demanded to know who this guy was and couldn’t wait to meet him. “Roll On,” by The Living End began cranking its iconic intro.

Pro wrestlers talk about different levels of heat. When fans are angry, into it, hate the heels. The HWA training faciiity, which was now drawing 75 to 100 fans for its weekly weekday shows and hundreds on weekend shows at other places, sounded like a prison riot.

Like all bad guys, when you’re really good at being bad, that’s when the crowd starts to see you as good. Within a month Nigel was a babyface. Confused former WCW talent and WWE developmental dealers couldn’t understand why the crowd loved this guy with the spiky blond hair more than them. They had the deals and were the chosen ones, but that doesn’t mean you’re good.

Ups and Downs of the hyper motivated

McGuinness was the most focused pro wrestler I’d ever covered. I interviewed dozens, talked to dozens, became friends with dozens, but Nigel made it clear to everyone, his career goal was to make it to WWE and become WWE world champion.

By this time, I knew how politics worked inside WWE. The last thing you wanted the company to know is how badly you wanted to be there. This was setting yourself up for major problems.

The company never admits it, but the talent that plays hard to get or has options tend to get the best deals and tend to get the most effort. It’s a strange thing, but this was how the company worked, and Nigel’s vocal mindset helped him grow and keep focused and grew him fans throughout Ohio and the indies, but it was a negative as far as how backstage politics worked in WWE.

Before the first Pillman memorial show, I talked with Nigel for about half an hour. He was down on his prospects, which is normal for anyone that’s highly motivated the ups and downs in making it any tough business are tremendous. Having this mindset in pro wrestling, which is subjective and is determined in totality on a few people, has to be torture.

This was the last time I talked to Nigel. Around this time, to make up for the gaping hole left by two major companies, independents began picking up steam. In the spirit of the Super J Cup, or the G1, tournaments started popping up on the east coast, featuring the best unsigned talent in the country. A couple guys, who sold ECW tapes online through RF Video, attended and saw how much talent was at these shows and realized there was enough to start a company.

A year later Ring of Honor launched. After several shows around Philadelphia, they took a shot and went to Dayton, Ohio, where HWA had drew 500-plus crowds monthly on a regular basis. Nigel McGuinness wrestled his first match for ROH that night. I remember walking the parking lot and counting the license plates from different states. It was like ECW when it had its first Dayton show, it was a grand opening to the rest of the country. This was the night Nigel debuted for ROH.

TNA, WWE, Retirement

Ring of Honor inherited the renegade spirit of ECW, and it was the perfect intellectual fit for Nigel. McGuinness was a technically solid wrestler, but he didn’t take off until he built his own identity. BJ Whitmer, who trained with McGuinness in the HWA and worked with him for years in ROH, once told me it wasn’t until Nigel began watching World of Sport that he began to form his own wrestling psychological personality. It was perfect timing for him and ROH, which needed strong promos, strong personalities and charismatic faces, and Nigel had all of that.

Instead of adoptin the tropes of XPW, TNA and the other smaller companies that popped up or were around, Nigel wasn’t doing flaming table spots. He made his claim as the best wrestler in the world, adopted the lariat, and along with other workers in ROH and on the indies, began developing a new US style that drew on Japan, the Pillars, the Southeast, WCW’s Cruiserweight division and WWE’s main event style. It was perfect. It was true punk rock. If the TV companies were doing 5 minute matches, he was going an hour. If they were throwing themselves off balconies, he’d work snug with anyone and keep it on the mat.

He found the perfect opponent in Bryan Danielson. Danielson was considered too short for WWE. If you’re short and you can’t do a shooting star press, that’s a problem. He was physical, he wrestled on the mat, he liked to kick heads in. Nigel’s matches with Danielson began inspiring wrestlers around the world. His success inspired wrestlers in Europe and soon a strong independent scene appeared in the UK.

While WWE’s main event still held strong to psychology, the pomp and circumstance was what the company sold to fans. This wasn’t the case with Nigel, Danielson and others. This group saved psychological storytelling in wrestling. While they were doing this in. the US, Tanahashi was taking form in New Japan, a company that was near death.

McGuinness was a top performer for years, but it took WWE a long time before they offered him a developmental contract.

Things fell apart after he failed a physical, his deal was denied, as the story goes. He continued on the indies for a few more years, and over a decade ago, he retired.

He became the management face of ROH, a top color commentator and a valued voice.

The came WWE. They wanted Nigel, but as an announcer.

Nigel’s story was so compelling, it was the subject of a documentary on WWE Network just after he signed to be WWE’s color commentator for NXT UK.

Wembley

After WWE laid off Nigel from his NXT announcing gig, he landed in AEW and Ring of Honor, which was purchased by Tony Khan around this time. Immediately, he began taking shots at his former rival Danielson. Danielson advised Nigel to stay retired during a press scrum, but the seeds were already being laid.

Dave Meltzer said McGuinness’s addition to the All In card at Wembley came together shortly beforehand, but not in the mind of McGuinness. The shape he was in, the stamina he had, the level of his work, this was not someone who decided to do this just a few weeks before the show. Nigel was considered one of the highlights of the night.

It was nice, a one-night return. Except it isn’t one night. Nigel cut two amazing promos the following week, challenging Bryan Danielson to a non-title match at AEW Grand Slam. At the home of the U.S. Open, in the building named after Arthur Ashe, McGuinness wants Danielson. And it won’t end there. AEW may think it’s a one-off. I don’t know. I know Nigel doesn’t see it as a one-off.

In the movie Demolition Man, Sylvester Stallone is hunting down an escaped convict played by Wesley Snipes. “To catch a maniac, send a maniac,” Stallone mutters to himself at one point. Maybe it takes a maniac, to book a maniac. Nigel’s on the loose, and the Forbidden Door Tony Khan is the booker. Nigel isn’t letting off the gas, unless an unforseen injury comes up, he’s not going away.

You don’t come back after a decade and put in that work, not when you’re the highly motivated, and go back to the commentator’s chair with no plans to get back in the ring. Whether Khan knows it or not, he’s entering the Age of McGuinness.

It’s coming. No one will out-work him, no one will out-talk him. He’s going to be relentless. He’s not going to give you a great promo, he’s going to melt ears. He’s going to melt the ring, he’s ruthless and in his mind the AEW Title is probably a certainty.

Whether AEW knows it, the talent, the producers – it’s all over. Just make the plans. Line him up with Swerve, Hangman, Orange, the rest. Let him do his thing. Maybe he needs more time in between matches, but you’re talking about a real life mad scientist (he has the college credentials) who has watched Chris Jericho, CM Punk, Christopher Daniels and others wrestle into their 40s and 50s. He’s done his homework, he’s watched their work at ringside, he knows what he can do and he knows what they can do.

He learned wrestling and psychology from the best, Les Thatcher. He spent a decade wrestling the best, at the top of the list, Danielson. He’s had a decade to ponder a possible last chance. I haven’t talked to Nigel in 20 years. I left wrestling, got into newspapers and went on my own route, but I know the guy and just make the plans now – put the belt on him. Book it. He’ll be another on a list of colossal WWE flubs and horrible judges of talent (Athena, Swerve, what happened??), and AEW can laugh to the bank, and Nigel will laugh hardest.

He’s in it to win it, get out of the way.

Bobby Lashley Announces ‘Phenoms To Legends’ Project After WWE Exit

0

Bobby Lashley’s time with WWE has come to an end and fans are excited to see where he goes next in the world of pro wrestling. It remains to be seen where the All Mighty will compete in the future, but now Lashley has launched a brand new video project.

On his YouTube channel, Lashley launched a new series called ‘Phenomis to Legends.’ Lashley shared that during his WWE tenure, he used an RV to travel between shows. Now, he wants to use an RV to travel around the country and meet young, talented athletes. The Phenoms to Legends Program aims to highlight these athletes and find out what motivates them which will allow them the chance to share their stories.

What’s to Come?

Lashley’s Phenom to Legends project will certainly keep him busy on the road, but fans can expect him back in the squared circle in due time. With MVP sharing that he won’t be going back to WWE at a Bloodsport event, anticipation continues to grow as to what he and Bobby Lashley have planned next. It’s been reported that Lashley and MVP are hoping to reunite in AEW in a move that could possibly see Shelton Benjamin brought into the All-Elite promotion.

Should the group reunite, they won’t be using the Hurt Business name, as that remains under ownership by WWE. Instead, MVP has filed a trademark for The Hurt Syndicate with Totally Harmless Concept, LLC, a company he has used to trademark terms in the past.

Those close to Lashley believe he will make at least an appearance in AEW and stated that he’s ready to return to TV. Lashley reportedly has interest from the fighting world, as well as from promotions in Japan. The All Mighty boasts an impressive 15-2 record in the world of MMA with six KOs victories to his name. Stay tuned to SEScoops for the latest on Bobby Lashley in and out of the ring.
