Samantha Irvin was banned from signing with other promotions for a long period after her resignation from WWE in 2024, and AEW exposed the truth behind it.
He is none other than her real-life husband, Ricochet. The Lightskin Kingpin saw a fan asking online why WWE imposed a two-year non-compete clause on Samantha Irvin after she left the company.
Ricochet took to his X to reveal that WWE wanted to prevent a remarkable talent like Irvin from signing with rival promotion AEW. He wrote:
Because they knew how amazing she is and wanted to make sure she wouldnt go to AEW.
Samantha Irvin and Ricochet came to prominence with their respective stints in WWE. The One and Only reportedly grew frustrated with his role in the company and left after his contract expired in June. Following that, he made his AEW debut at their premier event, All In 2024.
On the other hand, Samantha Irvin was in her prime as a ring announcer when she handed in her resignation. She wanted to explore more roles; however, WWE reportedly saw her only as a commentator, which led to her exit.
Furthermore, a recent report stated that Irvin’s non-compete clause was nearing its end. So it will be interesting to see whether she joins her husband in AEW after that.
